to think it's normal to spray quickly and wipe the bath out after you have used it?

because otherwise it's a massive pain in the arse to get the grime off the bath and really leaving bits of hair and dirt and skin for someone else to clean off isn't very nice either

dh and I have had words, but even my 11 year old cleans the bath after using it

I've never thought of doing that, but now you mention it it does make sense. Then again when I get out the bath I ususally just pull the plug and leave - I wouldn't want to stand there dripping waiting for all the water to drain out and then spray/rinse it down, I want to go and get warm and dry and relax!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 18/03/2013 09:56

Aren't you basically bathing in Flash residue every time, then? Confused I wouldn't fancy that myself. We don't have a bath here but I'd expect to rinse and every couple of days wash it down with a bit of ordinary soap. Doing it with flash every day would get a bit chemically-smelling, I think.

At least your dp pulls the plug out mine keeps forgetting Hmm Then I have to put my hand in cold water pull the plug out and scrub the bath.

BertieBotts · 18/03/2013 09:57

See, it would take 30 seconds if the bath drained instantly, but I find draining takes more like 5 minutes and my bathroom is cold so I wouldn't want to stand there all of that time.

Idocrazythings · 18/03/2013 09:57

If you put a squirt of dishwashing liquid in the bath before you empty it it binds up all the oils and "stuff" and they go down the drain. it then barely needs a wipe over and you're not putting caustic chemicals on the bath either to clean it.

In all other respects he is fine, more than fine really and I shouldn't moan. I think I may have been a bit grumpy this morning. I just don't want my sons to grow up thinking there is always a woman to pick up after them and I am most probably taking it all too seriously

I reckon that Most of what gets left in the bath isn't grime, it's soap residue.

I thought MNers deemed all baths disgusting. You had to shower first very thoroughly, then allow yourself an indulgent wallow in the bath, then soap & shower off again just to be sure you really clean. Just to be sure, and all.

Yes I have read about MNers who think that's the only hygienic way to have a bath, I couldn't make it up!

We don't do any of those things, not even a spray or a rinse or dry down. And towels are reused unless wet or smelly. Nobody harmed, yet.

I don't bother but then I do clean the inside of the bath two or three times a week. It's only DD that has baths in my house so it doesn't get over used. I have showers and I don't wipe down the tiles with a cloth and flash every time I have a shower either

LittleMissFantabulous · 18/03/2013 11:49

My bathroom gets cleaned when necessary. Can't be doing with a life dictated by cleaning products, I'd much rather be reading a book or interacting with the spaens:o
