Normally by rather flakey types.

Alternatively I could pretend it was some kind of Heston Blumenthal style surrealism.

just eat blindfolded I reckon that would be better than trying to get your head around anything Hestony

Emilythornesbff · 17/03/2013 11:22

Don't like any of those life philosophy sign things.
But also feel sick at the sight of anything cath kids ton and I loathe the term "middle aged woman" it's always used in a derogatory fashion with dismissive intent.

mrsjay · 17/03/2013 11:23

do we have those HOME LOVE FAMILY signs are we allowed to mention those ?

mrsjay · 17/03/2013 11:27

I have a recipe for a happy family card on my fridge I hate it with a passion but MIl gave us it it was given to her by a friend and she wanted to pass it on , I cant get rid of it Hmm

hackmum · 17/03/2013 11:29

One of my FB friends is always posting this kind of guff. Two recent ones:

I'd rather have my ship sunk at sea than rot in the harbor.

and

The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears or the sea.

NinaNannar · 17/03/2013 11:29

oh its definitely to be taken as dismissive.

Its used to describe a woman yearning for her youth

Drink, Judge, Sleep

Works for me :)

TheVermiciousKnid · 17/03/2013 11:34

I'd rather have my ship sunk at sea than rot in the harbor.

Well, that's bollocks. Having (second hand) experience of both, I know what I'd go for.

I think I might put up the letters T I D Y and U P up in every room. With but not TVK in brackets underneath. I might even add you feckers to the top line if I'm in a particularly bad mood.

TheVermiciousKnid · 17/03/2013 11:36

And I think I'll have a sign saying Oh do piss off above our front door.

Just as well I'm so cheerful today.

cocolepew · 17/03/2013 11:37

I have one thats says "You're confusing me with someone who gives a shit". I point it out to the DDs on an almost daily basis.

AnitaManeater · 17/03/2013 11:38

Anyone that signs off an email with 'love and light' deserves a slap uspide the head

Kinnane · 17/03/2013 11:39

I hate all signs! :)

TheVermiciousKnid · 17/03/2013 11:40

But have you got a sign saying that you hate all signs? You really should.

ginslinger · 17/03/2013 11:46

Yes i know Emily but it 's still deeply annoying and has been taken over by idiots. I am not being rational but it annoys me

Kinnane · 17/03/2013 11:46

TheVermiciousKnid But have you got a sign saying that you hate all signs? You really should.
:)It's a good idea for a sign

hackmum · 17/03/2013 11:50

"Well, that's bollocks. Having (second hand) experience of both, I know what I'd go for."

Ha! It's just so effing fatuous isn't. And anyone who was really given the choice between those two actual things would go for the latter.

Emilythornesbff · 17/03/2013 11:55

Oh nina, that's just mean.
Are you saying that you meant to sound dismissive and unkind about women who are not youthful?

Rainbows sing "Look, Learn, Laugh, Love" as part of the Rainbows song.

I bloody hate that song. I used to help out with a Rainbow group and had to sing that song Every. Single. Week. Whenever the group's leader was away on holiday and I took over, we would have a lovely subversive song free evening.

I bet this is where all this Life Love Laugh shit has originated from.

Emilythornesbff · 17/03/2013 12:04

Ah, fair enough ginslinger.

HellonHeels · 17/03/2013 12:14

I do love "Keep calm and have a Lambert and Butler" Grin

on phone so can't scroll back to find the author sorry.

HellonHeels · 17/03/2013 12:15

please retain the WEE letters in the loo, that is hilarious

bootsycollins · 17/03/2013 12:25

I want a 'lets carp the fuck outta this diem hell yeah' and a 'piss' and 'poo' please if any crafty entrepreneurs are interested in helping me to 'source' a commissioned piece Grin.

Shallishanti · 17/03/2013 12:25

I must live a sheltered life despite currently being in my prime (50-cough)- I quite like carpe deum (sp?) as a reminder to get off my arse but would not put it on the wall. The keep calm stuff was OK to begin with, I quite liked the idea of people reminding each other to keep calm in the face of the blitz/threatened invasion- and if you have that context in mind it's quite a good way to put whatever is bothering you into perspective. But definitely overdone now. And as for plates labelled plate- you wonder who gets pai to dream these things up.

Shallishanti · 17/03/2013 12:26

diem !
