HoHoHoNoYouDont · 17/03/2013 10:31

I actually quite like them Blush

LandofTute · 17/03/2013 10:31

Rainbows sing "Look, Learn, Laugh, Love" as part of the Rainbows song. The song was probably made up by a middle aged woman.

Badvoc · 17/03/2013 10:34

It's means - loosely - seize the day.
It's a quote from some ancient roman arsehole.
And it was used in dead poets society which brings on the rage in me.
2 hours of my life I will never get back

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/03/2013 10:36

We have a cross stitch in our guest loo (done by MIL) that says "You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter." I quite like that one.

mrsjay · 17/03/2013 10:37

seeker · 17/03/2013 10:46

I have pasta bowls with different sorts of pasta written on them. I have to stop myself getting stressed when I serve casserole in them.....

mrsjay · 17/03/2013 10:49

FunnyLittleFrog · 17/03/2013 10:54

Sing like there's nobody listening?

freddiefrog · 17/03/2013 10:55

Not a fan of the Live Laugh Love signs

I have a "be nice or go home" sign in the hall though

mrsjay · 17/03/2013 10:55

I sing like there is nobody listening they usually have their hands over their ears Grin

JenaiMorris · 17/03/2013 10:55

I'd have to eat blindfolded.

mrsjay · 17/03/2013 10:57

I'd have to eat blindfolded.

Grin
JenaiMorris · 17/03/2013 10:58

Alternatively I could pretend it was some kind of Heston Blumenthal style surrealism.

ginslinger · 17/03/2013 11:01

And when i'm old i shall wear purple

So fucking what. I'll wear converse and burn signs and decide when i'm middle-aged for myself. And then i'll do what the fuck I lie while sticking 2 fingers up to anyone telling me what's appropriate for a middle-aged woman. And i'm 57 and in a fucking bad mood.

toastedteacake · 17/03/2013 11:07

My favourite motto is 'Smile and Wave'.

I generally put it to use whilst muttering "fuck off" under my breath.

I regularly laugh at the news when there is a report about The Queen. She'll be travelling in her black car, with her sweet old lady 'butter wouldn't melt' smile, waving casually. I imagine her turning to Prince Phillip and saying something really rude. You often see them chortleing away together, sharing an 'in' joke.

Smile and wave, smile and wave.

vamosbebe · 17/03/2013 11:13

If I danced like no one was looking I'd be arrested Hmm I do like to throw funny shapes and mix things up. DS loves me for it.
Hate the 'keep calm' bollocks and 'eat' in the kitchen, so unimiginative. Although perhaps I should put one that says SLEEP on DS's wall Grin

I do love the wee/glitter turd, especialy in cross stitch, I may have to steal them!

seeker · 17/03/2013 11:17

Louise Redknapp was being teased on some TV programme about her family doing the M and S advertisement- she smiled sweetly at the comedian concerned, and said "Smile and bank it".

Emilythornesbff · 17/03/2013 11:19

But ginslinger the "when I'm old I shall wear purple" line is the start of a poem that illustrates your own statement. It's about saying that the author will do what the fuck she wants.

corlan · 17/03/2013 11:21

Oh God - I was just thinking that I'm middle-aged and none of my friends say these things. Then, I remembered that I have one of those signs in my hallway - it says:-

'Be kind
Be true
Seek Peace
Keep the faith
Be a friend
Sing and dance
Be in love
Treasure Family
Cherish Family
LIFE IS GOOD'

What a load of old bollocks. Can't even remember where or when I got it.(Maybe some evil 'sign fairy' sneaks it in to your house when you hit 40!)

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 17/03/2013 11:21

My one would be Read Drink Sleep
Or rather more descriptively Read, Drink Wine, Sleep

How about Just Live Life And Shut The Fuck Up
Get The Fuck On With It

However perhaps any type of motto is a mistake
