I came here to say that 90s fashion to me is The Craft!

My friends and me were all still schoolgirls during the nineties so we weren't able to completely buy into all the 'best' stuff but we loved that film and I think kind of wished we were witches too. Blush We even used to go to a witch shop in town which sold cuddly bats and crystals and big creepy robes.

I love 90s fashion! I didn't get to do it first time round so I'm dying to do it again. I'm probably too old now. I don't care!! I want to dress like a Spice Girl!!

Did anyone ever read Bliss magazine btw? I remember it sometimes came with a 'sealed SEX section' that was invariably disappointing.

ummlilia · 17/03/2013 15:37

1988..! Good grief, my eldest child is older than thatShock I remember wearing culottes in the 70's (as a kid). The 90's were a blur of mummying..leggings and baggy tops, and other crimes against fashion..

MoodyDidIt · 17/03/2013 15:47

oh i LOVED the craft too

and YY to bliss magazine and its shit sex sections ha ha

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 17/03/2013 17:00

I was a mum in the 90's and all I can recall is velvet highly patterned leggings with baggy jumpers. I had a leopard print pair too. I loved the baggy boxy jackets and wish I still had some now. my era was the 80;s... now THAT was fashion Grin

RubberBullets · 17/03/2013 18:39

I've never been even remotely fashionable but have to say that I love the clothes in your link Scarlet. I only ever saw people wear things like that on tv though, don't recall people walking around in real life like that. We are a bit slow down here and are generally behind everyone else

SayMama · 17/03/2013 18:41

Their are many a photograph of me and my friends wearing huge baggy t-shirts and tight cycling shorts Blush worn with the new radical invention - trainer socks!

MurderOfGoths · 17/03/2013 19:10

saymama Oh god the cycling shorts!

SconeInSixtySeconds · 17/03/2013 19:50

Quite frankly the cycling shorts on the (developing) male half of my very pedestrian high school were the single most memorable part of my education.

Ah Rhys, you were nicknamed The Golden Thighs with good reason.

For me the 90s were long button through dresses, waistcoats, platform Kickers, denim jackets.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 17/03/2013 19:52

Ooh and my mum was thrilled when I bought her a jumper from The Sweater Shop.

wrongsideoftheroad · 17/03/2013 19:58

Late 90s (my uni days) was very bland, as I recall.

Bodywarmers, combat trouers, huge trainers worn by boys AND girls. Short hair for girls too, a la Natalie Imbruglia in the video for 'torn'.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/03/2013 19:58

Oh god those denim mini skirts with the silver buttons down the front, worn with thigh high socks and platform shoes!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/03/2013 19:58

Logo tshirts. I was in love with my bright pink topshop one that said "Vamp"

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/03/2013 19:59

Floral bias cut dresses worn with docs

TrampyPants · 17/03/2013 20:03

has anyone mentioned mood rings?

ah, I wore a velvet mini skirt with purple tights that had musical notes on the, my dm's, a bodysuit and waistcoat, or long button through dresses with waistcoat and dm's. when I went out I wore a crocheted dress with vest and shorts underneath and platform boots. Make up was rimmel and I wanted to be winona ryder.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/03/2013 20:06

The floppy velvet hats with a flower on the front.

Ilovexmastime · 17/03/2013 20:10

I had a mood ring Grin and my favourite outfit was my black velvet mini dress with a baggy black t shirt over the top, with green and black tights and DMs.

TrampyPants · 17/03/2013 20:11

oooh, ABF, my friend used to make those. I had a bowler hat.

TrampyPants · 17/03/2013 20:11

mood rings were ace!

Ilovexmastime · 17/03/2013 20:12

Oh yeh, I remember drawing a big flower on my jeans with some sort of special plasticy clothes pen. A la De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising album!

MurderOfGoths · 17/03/2013 20:13

Talking about fabric pens, remember those puff paint ones? In neon colours of course..

NorbertDentressangle · 17/03/2013 20:16

oh yes the cycling shorts!

I had some black ones with lace edges that I wore (sometimes with thick black tights underneath) and DMs.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/03/2013 20:17

puff paint ones where you use a hairdryer to puff it up?

They were great.

these are in Topshop right now. I couldn't believe my eyes.

ScarletLady02 · 17/03/2013 20:28

I had a mood ring...and I read Bliss. I also remember Fast Forward, Smash Hits etc. By the time it got to '97 though I was a hardcore metaller and only bought Kerrang and Metal Hammer Grin

I vividly remember trying to do the "light as a feather, stiff as a board" thing.
