I'm looking at you Rhianna

Did anyone have a Hyperglobal Colour colour change t-shirt? The t-shirt that would change colour when you got hot so invariably the area around the pits was always changing colour. Attractive...

I used to wear mine with black and white humbug striped leggings and a pair of L.A Gear hi-tops. The ones with the pink glittery laces.

StuntGirl · 17/03/2013 01:32

The 90s were amazing for fashion. YABVU!

Linnet · 17/03/2013 01:40

I had two of the hyper global colour changing t-shirts and a jumper. i was telling dd1 about them just the other day and she thought they sounded quite cool, maybe they will bring them back again!

Linnet · 17/03/2013 01:42

I've just googled and found a website that still sells the t-shirts, must show dd tomorrow.

KeatsiePie · 17/03/2013 02:13

OMG VELVET JACKETS.

And thigh highs! Did you all have the thigh highs, with super-short skirt above and a few inches of thigh showing in between?

My best going-out outfit in 1994 was a tiny charcoal wool skirt, like a mini A-line, and black thigh highs, a crushed velvet, long-sleeved, scoop-necked shirt, and black Doc-Marten-esque shoes. I was SO HOT.

KeatsiePie · 17/03/2013 02:15

And overalls! Overalls over a tiny tank top and then a big boyfriend flannel worn open over that.

What a great decade.

BlueStarsAtNight · 17/03/2013 02:38

I have "fond" memories of wearing my oversize global hypercolour t-shirt as a dress with a dressing gown cord belt round the middle. I'm pretty sure I was uncool even for the 90's!

anonymosity · 17/03/2013 02:43

90s was non fashion decade, or anti-fashion - body-con dresses making an impact and the whole androgeny phase. clothes described by posters above were not fashion, sorry. They sound like classic "student" or "goth" stuff.

JenaiMorris · 17/03/2013 07:25

Is it only fashion if a man in Paris tells us to wear it, anon?

maddening · 17/03/2013 07:37

I did see collottes (sp?) In a shop recently and thought oh no not again.

Wannabestepfordwife · 17/03/2013 08:07

I majorly cringe at the platform trainers, trouseur skirts always worn with a cheap elastic gypsy tops and the array of boob tubes I wore in the late 90s

MurderOfGoths · 17/03/2013 08:11

What are you talking about anonymosity?

According to the Oxford dictionary, fashion means "a popular or the latest style of clothing, hair, decoration, or behaviour". We're talking about styles that were popular in the 90's, so fir that description perfectly.

ScarletLady02 · 17/03/2013 08:14

I always thought fashion was just what people were wearing?

You get high fashion, which is catwalk stuff....and street fashion which can be anything the general public are wearing...High fashion takes influences from street fashion, and the other way round.

KeatsiePie · 17/03/2013 13:56

It wasn't a non-fashion decade, it was a decade of fashion that (it sounds like) you didn't like.

But really, none of you had the thigh highs? Maybe they were an American thing. I recently saw them on a 20-yr-old waitress and was both pleased and horrified that it might mean they are back.

JenaiMorris · 17/03/2013 14:04

Fuck off big new age crystals worn on lanyards should probably stay in the 90s.

ScarletLady02 · 17/03/2013 14:06

I never had thigh high boots....but I did wear thigh high black socks with a tiny skirt and DM's

ScarletLady02 · 17/03/2013 14:08

Oooh look how colourful it is!!

10 points for every TV/music reference you get from this page Grin

I was born in 83, so the 90s was when I discovered fashion/boys/cider etc.

KeatsiePie · 17/03/2013 14:12

Yes yes Scarlet that's what I meant, we just called them thigh highs. I had that exact same outfit! My DMs were knockoff types though Grin

ScarletLady02 · 17/03/2013 14:16

When The Craft came out I fell in love with the style...I wore those socks, skirt etc with a white over-sized shirt and a big crucifix....complete with a ton of eye-liner Grin

KeatsiePie · 17/03/2013 14:18

Ha ha ha! Terrible movie, I forgot all about it. I had a big fashion crush on Angela and Rayanne from My So-Called Life, though when I look at the photos now it's a bit hard to say why.

NuhichNuhaymuh · 17/03/2013 14:23

90s fashion was great. I went with the grunge styke myself. Had a lovely short chain mail dress with I paired with purple and black stripy tight (and dms of course).! I'm sure I looked amazing.

Has there been a link for what Rianna was wearing? I'd be surpised if its 90s style, from my memory it was quite a covered up and baggy sort of fashion

RobinSparkles · 17/03/2013 14:24

When I think of 90s fashion it always makes me think of Saved By The Bell and Blossom and remembering what my sister wore to go out clubbing.

I remember wearing velvet trousers (!) with a matching jacket that had red flowers on it. I think I must have been about 6 or 7 and I wore it to a party. I also had a similar dress to the one that Hecsy described.

I used to love those little stars and hearts that you could stick on your face. I had HUNDREDS, from Miss Selfridge I think.

The 90s happened when I was 6 to 16.

NuhichNuhaymuh · 17/03/2013 14:25

Covered up compare to Rhianna that is!

drownangels · 17/03/2013 14:29

To me the 90's were about maternity dresses and comfy shoes!!! Grin

MurderOfGoths · 17/03/2013 14:44

Loved The Craft, according to my friends I looked like Nancy, I was so proud!

I wanted thigh high boots, but being a short arse they were always more like waist high on me. So I wore knee high socks that came up to my thighs instead Grin
