Went on a night out on Saturday and got quite drunk. Bumped into a guy that a friend of mine had been on about 3 (maybe 4) dates with, when I asked her about him about a month ago she said she wasn't going to see him again because there hadn't been a spark.

We ended up kissing, that was it.

I text my friend the next day to tell her what happened and she was completely fine with it and even said I should go on a date with him etc.

Met up with her today and she admitted that the friend I'd been out with had text her on the night and told her about what happened.

Aibu to be a little upset by this? I think said friend should have said to me I think you should tell her what happened or I will etc. Because I was always going to tell her.

(Just a little disclaimer I would never have kissed him if he was still dating my friend or if she was still interested in him)

Anyway it's 'text'd' Grin

Oh and OP, the reason you got short shrift is because you made it appear in your thread title that you had "kissed the guy she (friend) was seeing" It's all in the context isn't it?

ShannonNoah · 20/03/2013 14:34

Odd that you should come onto a thread only to post about someone elses posting habits.

Not really. I clicked on the thread and realised that I'd read it before. I do find it strange when people bump up old/dead thread for no reason.

NO ADULTS ALLOWED ON THIS THREAD!

Another one who was going to say 'how old are you, 14? Grin but so many people got there before me.

LadyBeagleEyes · 20/03/2013 16:04

Ooh Hully, you seem to have an enemy on here.
What did you do?

HerbyVore · 20/03/2013 17:20

I'm so glad they've appointed a new Chief of Police of threads, finally. I can't tell you how relieved I am.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 20/03/2013 17:34

It's text-ED.

Being the past participle of the verb 'to text'.

Or you could say 'sent a message'. Or 'messaged'. Or send a fricking homing pigeon.

Lueji · 20/03/2013 19:02

Good god!
You are all wrong!

There's no such thing as to text or to message.
Text and message are nouns!
You send a text message, FGS!

TuftyFinch · 20/03/2013 22:01

Shannon yes I did go searching for this thread, specifically this EXACT thread. Just this one. It took me a week.
Do you get paid for policing threads? Is it lucrative? Nice uniform?

HerbyVore · 20/03/2013 22:22

Lueji

sorry my lovely but it has made its way into the Oxford Dictionary as a VERB.

Tufty can you look for a thread for me? - I'm thinking something a little bit quirky/racey like using ready-rolled puff pastry and passing it off as your own creation.

TuftyFinch · 20/03/2013 22:32

I'd love to help Herby but... what if I get caught? It's a bit risky. I'm sure I can find one but if it's older than, say, 4 days? I'd be a bit worried about possible repercussions.
I will however accept the challenge. It'll take about 7 days ok?

ClippedPhoenix · 20/03/2013 23:01

Who cares about the spelling and why should you pull someone up on it? Makes you look rather stupid really.

I personally keep my lips to myself when out and about. In saying that though I'd not class the person who sent that text a friend.

HildaOgden · 20/03/2013 23:08

scatches head Is there an entire sub-plot going on in this thread? It makes for really confusing reading Confused

LouiseD29 · 20/03/2013 23:27

I think 'text' is an irregular verb, and therefore 'text' is also the correct past form. I have consulted several people I work with on this matter as well as at least one teenager and they all agree with me. As a result of this extensive market research I must conclude that I am correct. Using 'texted' just makes you sound like an aged Luddite.

Lueji · 21/03/2013 00:52

sorry my lovely but it has made its way into the Oxford Dictionary as a VERB.

Well, it shouldn't!
Who made the Oxford Dictionary an authority on the English language now?
One dispairs.

Are you saying people make up verbs from nouns?

Sigh.

:)

Lueji · 21/03/2013 01:00

And it doesn't matter that apparently the verb to text exists since the 1600s or 16th century, depending on the source!
