to be annoyed that friend told other friend that I had kissed the guy she was seeing?

PrimRosePetals · 14/03/2013 00:17

Went on a night out on Saturday and got quite drunk. Bumped into a guy that a friend of mine had been on about 3 (maybe 4) dates with, when I asked her about him about a month ago she said she wasn't going to see him again because there hadn't been a spark.

We ended up kissing, that was it.

I text my friend the next day to tell her what happened and she was completely fine with it and even said I should go on a date with him etc.

Met up with her today and she admitted that the friend I'd been out with had text her on the night and told her about what happened.

Aibu to be a little upset by this? I think said friend should have said to me I think you should tell her what happened or I will etc. Because I was always going to tell her.

(Just a little disclaimer I would never have kissed him if he was still dating my friend or if she was still interested in him)

Dear op, you have made me feel very, very, very old. Love siss (aged under 40)

Hulls, I feel like I spend half my life making people put the end on words - tbf mostly my 7 yr old. Is it pedantry? I don't feel like a pedant. :(

Hullygully · 14/03/2013 13:55

I don't know scone, my mum is in her seventies and says "text" but doesn't leave the ends of other words, thought it might be a phone lang thing. Oh, except I didn;t really, I'm a nasty liar, I forgot.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/03/2013 14:05

Ds has an aversion to the ending 'ing'. Maybe your mum is aiming to be up to the minute? My dad watches that techy thing on bbc breakfast and expects me to know what the chuff he is on about.

It is at times like that I like to fantasise about a little island of my own...

Hullygully · 14/03/2013 14:06

I'll ask my teens when they get home Grin

notactuallyme · 14/03/2013 14:13

Well, if we assume it's 'to text' it would be: I text (present)I did text and I have texted and I texted (past) and I will text (future) so hully is right, even tho obv she didn't really care about the answer and just wanted to be mean.

LoveUntilYouBleed · 14/03/2013 14:15

Exactly notactuallyme. Especially the last part.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/03/2013 14:18

Yikes. Being mean? Surely she was just being intellectually questing? Like finding out how stuff moves on?

I was deciphering a v.old family journal the other day and it was full of "verily we walked 'neath the multifloriferous canopy, pausing to indulge our breasts with the verdant herbiage".

That kind of stuff is tricky to type...I want to know if I can save time by typing text instead of texted because I am deeply and extraordinarily lazy.

TheChaoGoesMu · 14/03/2013 14:20

Sounds like your friend is a bit of a gossip. You know not to share anything important with her now.

Hullygully · 14/03/2013 14:28

oh let them have their little hate party, scone, they obviously dont get out much and they are having a lovely old frot egging each other on, bless

WhatsTheBuzz · 14/03/2013 14:34

yanbu for being upset but agree that you sound like silly teenagers - maybe you are?

LoveUntilYouBleed · 14/03/2013 14:34

Yikes. Being mean? Surely she was just being intellectually questing? Like finding out how stuff moves on?

No I'm just talking about in general.

Every post I see from her is brimming with bitterness.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/03/2013 14:39

I must read different threads, hully makes me larf.

Hullygully · 14/03/2013 14:54

bwah ha ha

GooseyLoosey · 14/03/2013 15:01

I like Hully and I like pedanty, although in this case I also suspect a tad of disingenuousness or disingenuity if you prefer.

GooseyLoosey · 14/03/2013 15:01

Even pedantry!

Hullygully · 14/03/2013 15:15

tell you what, set a court date and buy a curly wig and we can all enjoy ourselves no endSmile

ginslinger · 14/03/2013 15:20

Hully makes me larf too and it's texted

TuftyFinch · 20/03/2013 12:53

These are the facts as I see them:
Up Yours is my favouite saying.
It is texted.
It will always be texted -until 2018, then it will changed (obviously).
Hully wasn't being mean.
Some people do like to have a bit of a barney and a froth. It's like the live in a whirlwind and always have to be in the core.
I would make a great judge.
If I was a judge I would say 'up yours' all of the time. There's not a law against this so I could if I wanted to.

snuffaluffagus · 20/03/2013 13:00

I think it's texted Hully yes, text leaves one with a sense of the phrase being unfinished. I will text you, I texted you.

you BITTER bitter person.

Ehem.

Anyway OP, you should buy the go between friend a big wooden spoon, so she can stir things ever better.

HerbyVore · 20/03/2013 13:02

I like 'Up Yours' too.

Texted is correct, but it can sound a bit silly when it's said several times in a sentence like

'He texted me right, and then I texted him back only I hadn't texted him at all I had texted my Mum by mistake'

see?

Roll on 2018.

TuftyFinch · 20/03/2013 13:18

I know what you mean Herby, I heard that same conversation in Wimpy last week. It drove me a little bit around the bend. It will be so much easier in 2018, except they'll be no more Wimpy by then so that will be a bit of a sting in the tail of what is a really good idea. I'm not sure why we have to wait until 2018 though? I worked out, although in a 'layman' way, that it would be possible b 2016. Still.
Up yours!
Doesn't the gilr in that film say Up yours! alot? Can't remember what it's called? 50's, seaside down, bicycle? Emily?

HerbyVore · 20/03/2013 13:23

Wish you were here.

TuftyFinch · 20/03/2013 13:36

Ah yes. Merci.

ShannonNoah · 20/03/2013 13:39

TuftyFinch why have you dragged up this thread?

It's a week old which is old in AIBU.

Odd that you've gone looking back for this ... Confused

HerbyVore · 20/03/2013 13:50

Maybe Tufty was researching the latest thinking in Text v Texted in preparation for 2018?

Or maybe she was stalking Hully?

Odd that you should come onto a thread only to post about someone elses posting habits.....Confused
