To think a grown man should clean up his own shit. Literally.

AIBU to think I'm the only one with a DH incapable of using and cleaning a toilet brush correctly?

Just had another 'conversation' with DH about this, as he's just arrived home. I hate bringing it up (we already disagree strongly on many areas of housework and I prefer to pick my battles just like with the kids). Plus we're both tired having worked over 12 hours today each.

But it puts me in a rage to go into the bathroom and see his shit from this morning caked onto the toilet. I go to clean it and the toilet brush is caked too. This leads to me cleaning out the toilet brush holder which is also home to cakey shit albeit floating in a bit of water.

He hasn't really got an answer. I don't really need an answer I just need him to fucking do it. My 4 YO DS is better at it than him which makes me think my MIL never taught him properly in the first place

When we visit other people's houses I always have a quick check/clean after I suspect he has 'been' to the loo.

It's ridiculous I know. It's basic hygiene and courtesy too. People will say 'why do you clear up after him'? Fact is he just doesn't notice. I don't know how to get him to notice and do the jobby properly.

Anyone else? Or just me who's been blessed with this?

Any.

Yes they do,usually selfish cocks who have no regard for other people but occasionally oblivious people who aren't selfish cocks.

StuntGirl · 13/03/2013 01:57

I'm actually astounded that people like this exist in the world. Horrified.

Jacksmania · 13/03/2013 02:24

I must live an incredibly sheltered life, because only on MN have I ever read anything like this, or like the stories about people smearing shit in public loos and worse Shock.

OP, I'm sorry, I have no advice. Can't begin to imagine DH doing this.

Sock - I bow to you. Deeply.

:o

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 13/03/2013 02:49

Sock, you rock Grin

OP, why do you clean after your H in other people's houses?

snowshapes · 13/03/2013 06:40

Sock, brilliant, but so sorry he made your life hell for so long. What a shit.

STBXH did this, claimed that using the toilet duck thing was beyond him. But really, it was just laziness and/or his way of asserting his right to cr@p all over me, metaphorically as well. We nearly separated when DC2 was three weeks old because he told me I hadn't cleaned under the toilet rim. He apologised, when I called him on it, but I think that incident kind of showed his view of me.

And finally, after we split, he left skid marks in the loo, one of the things, along with groping and harrassment, which made me think, hell will freeze over before I go back with him.

Who cleans the toilet matters.

snowshapes · 13/03/2013 06:42

this in the second paragraph refers to leaving skid marks, the OP, not sock's posts!

MaggieMaggieMaggieMcGill · 13/03/2013 09:07

My mother does this practically every morning Hmm

SuedeEffectPochette · 13/03/2013 09:42

Never had a toilet brush. Never will. They are disgusting. If you stick a piece of toilet paper down before a poo to catch it, no skids!

IneedAsockamnesty · 13/03/2013 11:22

Why thank you.

ATJabberwocky · 13/03/2013 11:34

Sockreturningpixie that is brilliant. Hats off to you!

My DH cannot be bother pretends not to notice the marks, i am in absolute disbelief that someone could possibly not notice the before and after going to the toilet.

DH also says it's dirtier to use a toilet brush, 'it drops s*t all over the floor, just for the sake of a spotless toilet' hmmph, 'just f*king clean it!'

Also from my student days i remember it being a common occurance in shared bathrooms to always find the toilet in considerable states of filthiness.

Redbindy a £1 a poo seems rather expensive, I'd rather save for an en-suite instead and forbid anyone from using it.

shrimponastick · 13/03/2013 11:43

Ugh. YANBU OP.

However, toilet brushes are a bit minging.

A bit of toilet paper and the culprit's hand work well.

I insist on the DC cleaning up after themselves. A good tip is to flush before the shitting. This means that it is less likely to stick firm to the surface of the bowl.

FashionFail · 13/03/2013 11:46

Vicky Pryce could have learned something from Sock.

Nagoo · 13/03/2013 12:06

I'd take a photo and text it to him every day. Threaten that it goes on FB if he doesn't sort it.

They'll suddenly notice it then, I'm sure.

Thanks sock :)

I have called my husband back up the stairs and asked what he thought I had called him for. The fact that he immediately knew without even looking tells me he has no bloody respect. I have also once had to ask DH to "have a strong word with" his best friend who once did a monumental poo, blocked the toilet and left it for me to find. Envy
