And just make up some cheap natural face cleanser from porridge oats instead? Dd's changing and her skin needs a bit more than just water on a face cloth....to be honest I don't know where to start with skincare products for her, all the stuff seem too harsh or aimed at adults, and I didn't want to go down the road of buying a whole load of products which might not be suitable and I dread to think of all the chemicals...but maybe I'll have to if her skin worsens as she develops...but just not yet..fingers cross, hoping she has her dad's skin and ot mine....

I suppose an Aibu and wwyd.

Get her a proper cleanser like Crealine Eau Micellaire and a light moisturizer - and don't muck about with food!

Try the "good things" range. It's natural, no parabens etc and they are not too pricey. You can get it from boots or Sainsburys.

Second Burts Bees, I love everything of theirs I've tried. Lush has a lot more harsh chemicals in than you'd think, I was surprised and disappointed. There was a site that rated both products and ingredients on the basis of evidence of carcinogenic effects, potential for irritation, etc and also indicated how much evidence they had for each rating (all proper medical studies etc). I wish I could remember it. Analytical Armadillo shared it on FB. Witch also has some gentle stuff in their ranges you know, and is a lot cheaper than some others.

Dermalogica. Brilliant for sensitive skins, and any skins! The daily microfoliant is fabulous stuff. Not cheap, but everything lasts ages.

Personally, I would try the oats first and see how that works for her. Oil cleansing maybe if she begins wearing make-up. See how it works for her.

PS If you try it in the bath do not dump it in as she did, it will clog the pipes, make a loose bundle (not compressed) with cheese cloth tied with a string.

Toner does wipe off the excess cleanser but warm water works just as well, if using a cream based cleanser make sure something is used after.

Didn't realise about the parabens in body shop! My bad; although not been in since I was a teen. Got a craving for their mandarin bubble bath now! Avoid parabens like the plague.

Feel sorry for the poster with an allergy to lanolin. It's in an awful lot of products these days x

Thanks for all the suggestions. .....my mum never taught me any of this stuff either as a teen, she didn't know how, I learnt it all through trial and error and reading teenage mags, then cosmopolitan then Marie Claire and Red etc.....I still remember buying my first bottle of oil of Ulay, then there was aapri scrub which was like rubbing sand on your face and those Brillo pad like face sponges urgh....still learning...

Think I'll see now it goes with the oats and honey for now and venture into the branded products maybe later.
