Bastards they are.

Due to the shortage of Comfort milk last month we had to change our daughter back to 1st. All was well apart from her taking no more than 5oz a bottle, sometimes only 3oz.

HV assured me she'd take what she needed. I felt relaxed after that.

Once Comfort was back in stock we bought 3 tubs just in case and thank christ we did! This week has been hell with our poor girl struggling with trapped wind. It was making her literally scream.

Changed her to Comfort 2 days ago and she's draining 6oz per bottle which is a relief.

I had her weighed today and at 15 weeks 5 days she's 13lb 2oz, so has only gained 7oz in 16 days.

So, fuck you Aptamil.

Ok [Hmm] Bastards for?

JohnBender88 · 08/03/2013 17:15

There was a shortage of comfort milk because they couldn't get hold of an ingredient, not their fault I know, but no one likes seeing their little one in pain. Just needed to vent!

MrsLouisTheroux · 08/03/2013 18:49

:( Poor little girl :( I hope she's ok now!

JohnBender88 · 08/03/2013 19:20

There's been a slight improvement since we put her on it 2 days ago, so I'm hoping she continues to get better!

If it happens again try sma lf

Fakebook · 08/03/2013 22:35

Hmm...why "fuck you aptamil"?

Do you think they had a secret vendetta against you to make your baby lose weight and they didn't succeed? Confused

BabyRoger · 08/03/2013 22:37

I can understand wanting it sorted (poor dd being in pain :( ) but not really Aptimil's fault Confused

TiredyCustards · 08/03/2013 22:39
Hmm
mrsjay · 08/03/2013 22:43

not aptimils fault really I know you are just venting I hope your baby is better and settled soon and TBH her weight gain seems steady enoygh she sint losing is she

mrsjay · 08/03/2013 22:43

enough Isn't sorry typos

JohnBender88 · 09/03/2013 09:38

As I said before, I know it's not their fault. She's taking the comfort much better and is drinking much more than the past 2-3 weeks so I'm sure she'll be back to following her curve soon.

I've slept on it and have decided to blame the panic buyers and the eBay sellers bulk buying and selling it at ridiculous prices.

OP posts:
drownangels · 09/03/2013 09:57

Ridiculous post. You say it's not their fault but call them bastards! (Hmm)

lumpybumps · 09/03/2013 10:01

Hmmm if Aptamil are the ones who produce the milk, then there's a shortage- who's fault is it if not Aptamils??

Totally with you OP, my child's on c&g comfort which there was a shortage too, we had 3 days of screaming when I had to use another milk until my IL's found some comfort milk 70 miles away and bought us 4 tubs to keep going until supply is back to normal!

FadBook · 09/03/2013 10:02

Are there any reasons why you are weighing more than once a month?

Unless your dd is classed as "failure to thrive" (hate that phrase) or loosing weight, it really isn't helpful to weigh more than once a month. Weight can fluctuate up and down week by week, even day by day (teething, growth spurts, development milestones like rolling over etc) will be some of the reasons for this.

She's gained weight so there really shouldn't be an issue. If you are concerned with weight gain, see your GP or HV.

mrsjay · 09/03/2013 10:10

what fadbook said weight can be slow or quick depending on whats going on with baby and IME they dont need to follow the exact curve in the baby book or chart as long as they are gaining and not losing i cant see the problem unless your baby is a hfailure to thrive and yes it is an awful phrase

ElphabaTheGreen · 09/03/2013 10:19

I've had my DS weighed three times in his 9 months of life since being discharged by the midwives i.e. on each one of the HV's home visits. Those monthly baby-weighing clinics make people anxious for no reason. Avoid, avoid, avoid unless there's a medical reason for going.

JohnBender88 · 09/03/2013 10:36

It was the first time I'd taken her to be weighed at the clinic, won't be doing that again! Just made me paranoid.

This is the reason I put this post up, I love how people aren't afraid to tell you when you're being utterly unreasonable, I needed a firm kick up the arse and brought down to earth!

I think the problem was down to maize (?) not being available, couldn't be helped.

My irrational thoughts haven't been helped by the little one going from sleeping right through to being up 3 times during the night this week.

OP posts:
HollyBerryBush · 09/03/2013 10:38

Poor maize crops was the problem. The milk companies couldnt get hold of enough to satisfy demand. Tubs of amtimil were turning over in excess of £100 on ebay 3 weeks ago.

JohnBender88 · 09/03/2013 10:42

I hope no one bought tubs off of eBay, selfish people making money off of poor baby's misery IMO.

A woman was applauded on another site (one where disagreeing is not allowed!) for clearing out her local store of 10+ tubs and refusing to sell ONE tub to a poor man who was desperate. This was the only place to have stock for miles. I couldn't believe it. She'll still have lots of tubs left and couldn't spare one!

OP posts:
monkeysbignuts · 09/03/2013 10:43

Lousy bastards selling it on eBay! £100 for 3 tubs. People like that disgust me

HollyBerryBush · 09/03/2013 10:45

Where there is a markeplace there are buyers. I have no issue with people making money if they see an opportunity.

However most inde chemists had large stocks, but people are too lazy to go off the beaten track.

monkeysbignuts · 09/03/2013 10:48

I think it's awful making money out of desperate parents. Poor babies :(

FadBook · 09/03/2013 10:54

I sympathise with lack of sleep OP. At nearly 16 weeks she might be hitting a bit of sleep regression (google this). Very common for babies to change sleep habits, especially when they are moving, hitting mile stones etc. she's led you in to a false sense of security by sleeping well up to now Smile this too shall pass.

SirBoobAlot · 09/03/2013 10:54

Their missing crucial ingredient was maize starch. Think that's rather concerning.

These companies don't care about the well being of children, just about their profits. They must have known their supplies were running low, and could have issued a warning well in advance... But no. Because they knew people would continue to buy it after it was back on the shelves anyway.

Their all bastards.

JohnBender88 · 09/03/2013 10:55

We are off the beaten track and couldn't get it anywhere! We have it now so happy days will be here again....I hope!
