Eek. I have pills too, but wanted to kill the itch quick as possible. I'll try the yoghurt popsicle I saw recommended...

If canestan burns, what the hell do you think garlic will do?

Saski · 04/03/2013 12:56

Did you get this idea from the most recent episode of Girls? Just curious!

ppeatfruit · 04/03/2013 13:04

Garlic CAN help but not up your fanny NOOOOO; just liquidised; use half a clove with half a whole lemon and honey and water to taste that is very good for viral or bacterial infections 2 or 3 times a day. Cranberry juice is good too and yoghurt as was said before you can put THAT up if you want to Grin

Never seen Girls...

Sorry I didn't stipulate that you DRINK the lemon\garlic mixture. Grin

WilsonFrickett · 04/03/2013 13:06

Shock Bunfangs!

OP, get thee to a herbalist and ask for tea tree pessaries, three of them will do the job, and a really good probiotic to rebalance your gut. I was plagued with thrush but this sorted it out.

WilsonFrickett · 04/03/2013 13:06

^^ three of them as in one a day for three days. Don't go putting three up there at once!

kinkyfuckery · 04/03/2013 13:08

Why the fuck would you want to stick garlic up your chuff?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/03/2013 13:08

If I get any more of these, Wilson, I will. We can't really afford a herbalist, but I cannot deal with another episode like this.

I've read this too OP and did consider it once but read up about it some more and decided it was a very bad idea! Thrush is a real problem for me but they can never find a cause and I get sick of the constant cycle of medication.

The best cure for candida/yeast infection is GSE (grapefruit seed extract) - Be very careful with this too. I put it on a tampon but didn't dilute it enough and ended up with chemical burns both inside and out!

IfNotNowThenWhen · 04/03/2013 13:09

Right. Thrush remedy:

Cut out bread, booze and sugar.
Super strength Canesten pill thingy
Eat lots of natural live yogurt(not the stuff with sugar)
Go commando as much as possible.

If it doesn't clear up after that lot, it probably isn't thrush, so get tested for other nasties.
Step away from the garlic!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/03/2013 13:09

Kinky - after the episode of thrush I'm suffering atm, I'd fucking amputate my chuff if it would help.

ppeatfruit · 04/03/2013 13:10

Yes I 2nd the tea tree as well I use it for any fanjo problems very successfully with no problems at all. Do buy pure fresh essential oil though and mix it with warm water.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/03/2013 13:11

Ifnotnow - I don't drink, I have cut out all sugar and carbs and I have some pills from the gp, but not the super strength because I'm still bf.

Yoghurt and dilute vinegar rinses have always cured it before Sad

OP posts:
WilsonFrickett · 04/03/2013 13:12

According to this you can add tea tree to a tampon too?

IfNotNowThenWhen · 04/03/2013 13:14

Really? Hmm. I don't know then. My tried and tested thrush remedy also works on candida, but maybe it isn't thrush or candida you have got?

Hang on, did you say you have cut out ALL carbs?
Surely not?!
Shock

LRDtheFeministDragon · 04/03/2013 13:18

Oh, god, please don't put tea tree up there! Or if you must, check it on a patch of skin elsewhere. Tea tree can cause nasty reactions too. Neat oil can burn a red mark on my skin quicker than bleach (having accidentally spilt both and washed my hands immediately, unfortunately I do know this is true).

squeakytoy · 04/03/2013 13:20

Have you cut out diet stuff too. Aspartame is another substance that can make thrush worse.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/03/2013 13:20

All processed carbs. I still eat whole grains (eg porridge) and vegetables.

I'd stick with cranberry juice to drink and yogurt for your fanjo.
Plus canestan combi (cream + pill) always worked for me.

Friend gave me great tip for not getting recurrences - to improve my diet by eating more veg. Since I took more care with diet I've not had it again.
(But was possibly more physically run down when I used to get it too, as like you had young children) HTH Smile

No garlic up chuff !!

BertieBotts · 04/03/2013 13:25

DON'T DO IT!!

Maybe breastmilk would help? It seems to help everything else Grin if you can still express that is.

Go commando in floaty skirts? Avoid all disposable san pro.

TheSmallPrint · 04/03/2013 13:29

Did you see this on Girls?
