I have been appalled at the lack of compassion and empathy shown to a poster seeking help on these threads. Despite trying to find work and succeeding the family are being failed by the welfare system. I don't think they are alone in this and believe there will be many more.

AIBU to ask you to show some support for these families, to offer suggestions or advice to help them support their families?
Not to judge and name call rather than help.

If you think I am being unreasonable, or if you are a young parent please watch my link. It's quite harrowing though. Please spare 5 mins.

IlianaDupree - if it's any comfort me and my husband have hired lots of women who have taken time out from work to raise a family. Two of the staff at the moment came to us straight from a 9 year and a 15 year gap whilst being a stay at home mum. They are brilliant employees and have loads to offer to a workplace so there is plenty of hope for you yetSmile

Iliana.

Hey, don't worry derail away and apologies for the link. I just thought even if one person sees it and understands, what they didn't before, it would be worth it.
If more people create an awareness it can't harm. It maybe won't achieve much but I can't bear doing nothing.
I have read your posts above and wish you good luck, if anybody deserves it you do. I think you are a good role model to all who suffered as you did. I can't offer much in terms of advice, except to agree with the point about making your application stand out. Bless you, I'm crossing everything for you.

Good luck from me too Iliana... but i dont think you will need it. I think yr great attitude will show at any interviews.

morethan i know what you mean. i made a few more people aware of the changes to come with Universal Credit today.

Thankyou all.

Hopefully people will look at the link, I'm hoping, everyone who cares can do their thing to raise awareness.

I agree I'll be ok, I have good work experience behind me and a self taught education. Many people I sign on with don't though, women who've lived for years with domestic abuse and have no skills, single parents male/female who have no child care, people with learning difficulties.

I'm seriously considering setting up a charity to employ these people

Help them, help myself?
