To ask who the hell has passed a driving test in exeter recently without killing themselves?,

I have my test this week! Am nervous as hell! My instructor has purposely left the dangerous haldon hill Devon expressway until yesterday and today as he said it was too dangerous to do any earlier in my lessons. Suffice to say that was my first experience of slip roads and driving a 60mph down a very steep hill and I'm now shitting it for my test ! He has also kindly told me that another girl rolled her car on that route ! Aaaargghhhhhh!

Any exeter mummies out there that have done a test recently that can reassure me that they don't all get taken up haldon hill?!

It may well be RIP sannaville by the end of week!

Good luck.

I'm not familiar with the hill but won't no throttle and engine braking keep it under 50 or so ?

Especially if you use 4th rather than 5th gear.

firawla · 28/02/2013 23:35

I'm on automatic too. I failed on almost everything!! 1st one i had about 15 mistakes, 2nd one 6 but they were majors.

Good luck for tomorrow!

Took my test in Newton Abbot, but I commute on Haldon Hill every day and it is really nothing to worry about! You'll be fine!Smile

ElliesWellies · 28/02/2013 23:48

Well, very best of luck to all of you with forthcoming tests.

For me, driving confidence only truly came after I'd passed, really... when you are in a car alone and have no one to ask about anything, it pushes you on leaps and bounds.

I am still a bit crap at parking though...I manage, but not sure what a driving examiner would think!!

Good luck Sannaville! I used to drive between Exeter and Newton Abbot every day for work, and I'm still here to tell the tale. You don't need to go at 60mph down Haldon Hill, just take it steady. Anyway, you might go the Topsham way on your test, in which case I'll give you a cheery good-luck wave if I see you, cos I live over that way. And I'll keep off the roads tomorrow morning to give you a little bit more room. :)

6gomad · 01/03/2013 00:13

Good luck, thousands of people travel that route every day, just stick to the left if you're uncertain about it and go for it! Don't forget the look, mirror and indicate rule.

I do know the road, what time did you say you where there and I can avoid it Smile

Please let us know how you got on

JeeanieYuss · 01/03/2013 01:25
