To have felt sorry for Oscar Pistorius until I read that his brother was also in court last week for killing a woman?

It's in The Guardian, sorry - can't post link as I'm using my phone. Apparently he knocked down and killed a female motorcyclist in 2010 and is on culpable homicide (manslaughter) charges. He appeared in court two days before Oscar.

What is it with that family?

OP posts:
GetOrf · 24/02/2013 13:14

Moron.

squeakytoy · 24/02/2013 13:17

Why is your DH on your phone then? [confusion]

Wink
Booyhoo · 24/02/2013 13:17

the man intended to kill someone. he entered the room with a loaded gun. he shot them four times. it was no accident. his intention was to kill. the only doubt is whether he intended to kill his girlfriend or not.

Booyhoo · 24/02/2013 13:18

OP i think you should have this thread deleted if it was started intentionally to wind people up.

PuffPants · 24/02/2013 13:18

VenusRising, the detective who was (no longer) on the case has not been accused of murder, but attempted murder. No-one died. He fired shots from his police car at a mini-van with 7 people on board. They were allegedly speeding and he had indicated for them to pull over but they didn't. So he shot at them, as you do... The case was actually dropped and mysteriously reopened last week.

BoneyBackJefferson · 24/02/2013 13:22

Booyhoo

So what you are saying is that he might have accidentally killed his girlfriend?

OliviaKnowsBestMumsnet · 24/02/2013 13:32

Good afternoon all
We would remind that we don't encourage this kind of speculation.
OP if you believe that your MN account has been tampered with please let us know.
Peace and love all
Thanks

HildaOgden · 24/02/2013 13:32

Seriously?Your dh took your phone and posted this thread? Hmm

Has he considered getting a hobby at all?

NewYearNewBoo · 24/02/2013 13:34

Why has there been no mention of the reported fact that the chief investigator is also up on charges of manslaughter Hmm also another interesting coincidence with absolutely no bearing on the case against Oscar P - like his brothers charges!!

Op, no one believes the husband started this story, if my DH had started a thread using my name it would be much more like aibu to hate it when water splashes you after a poo (he did this on Facebook once)

TheSmallPrint · 24/02/2013 13:35

monmatre. I didn't say 'the OP' I said OP as in Oscar Pistorius.

PuffPants · 24/02/2013 13:35

Plenty of mention of it NewYear.

PuffPants · 24/02/2013 13:36

And he is no longer the chief investigator. Maybe have a quick scan of the thread before posting?

NewYearNewBoo · 24/02/2013 13:38

I did puff, just a scan though sorry I missed that bit Blush

montmartre · 24/02/2013 13:56

ah- how confusing! Sorry smallprint Smile

Salmotrutta · 24/02/2013 14:09

Well then, I hope your DH never serves on a jury OP.

He sounds like a right eejit. If it was him.

WileyRoadRunner · 24/02/2013 14:47

YABU.

By the time trial comes around pretty much anyone who has anything to do with it in any form will be on some form of murder charge.

Perhaps that was why his brother was looking for the memory stick with the alleged "offshore" account details....

VenusRising · 24/02/2013 15:35

Thanks, it seems all very violent Puff, and guns seem easy to obtain, which doesn't help.

VenusRising · 24/02/2013 15:36

Oh, was this a wind up thread?
A bit pathetic if so.

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 24/02/2013 15:51

Is your dh a hairy handed trucker?

YABU.

Oscar Pistorius isn't to blame for his brother's actions and vice versa.

OhLori · 24/02/2013 23:04

I see no reason for the OP to be ridiculed here. There could be no link between the two brothers' behaviour whatsoever. OTOH, aggression and entitlement and a disregard for consequences are attitudes that can run in families. So the OP is asking a reasonable question generally speaking. Sometimes I think posters are lying in wait to ridicule and be nasty to posters, and it is they who should get a life. Its not just the Daily Mail which is toxic.

DuelingFanjo · 24/02/2013 23:06

I don't see what his brother's actions have to do with the death of reeva steenkamp?

No one even knows if Oscar P killed her intentionally, or has the trial been and gone and I missed it?

aldiwhore · 24/02/2013 23:13

I find it hard to speculate, mostly because SA is very different from the UK... I think I heard somewhere that the UK has about 16 murders with guns a year with a population of 60mil and SA has a gun murder rate of 27000 per year with a 25mil population (figures aren't exact, plucked from my memory, whish is rubbish) so I find it difficult to have much of an opinion.

I will say though bellejar YABU and behaving like my old headmaster who ruined my sister's time at school because of my past 'crimes'... it's not a good road to travel, it's unfair and unreasonable to forge an opinion or change one based on the behaviour of a relative.

gardengate · 24/02/2013 23:37

OP or OP? That is the question.
