It contained not one single opportunity to take offence. Not one! AngryThere was no poem, no gift list, no cash request (they even said they don't want presents ), there was a map, the wedding isn't in the middle of nowhere, they will lay on transport, suggested hotels are affordable and close by. Hell, they even asked if we will be needing high chairs and for any dietary requirements.

The ONLY thing there is to be pissed off about is that DH has been asked to be an usher and will therefore be required to hire a morning suit.

AIBU to think they should have tried harder to provide offence?

Actually I will have to wait and see if there is a CASH BAR.

Bastards, utter bastards! They could have tried so much harder.

My favorite was the wedding with a gold theme and all the guests had to wear something gold. I would have loved to see the wedding photos.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 12:29

The handwriting on the envelope was untidy.

Is that something?

Was the invite addressed to Mr & Mrs [his first name]?

But but what are we going to get all het up about on mn now?

What if all weddings are like this in future? Aibu will be barren Sad

My 2 mates weddings were like this one, both were brilliant days.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 12:34

No. The addressing of the envelope was terribly equal-opportunities.

A poem of acceptance back?
Hmmm....

Must be MNers!

Have they put a stamp on the RSVP card?

nickelbabe · 22/02/2013 12:36

oh, you pooor poor baby! :(

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 12:38

No, there was no stamp actually.

Not so bloody perfect now, are they?

Bastards!

SPBInDisguise · 22/02/2013 12:40

"ArielThePiraticalMermaidFri 22-Feb-13 12:22:09

Have just checked with DH and the groom is actually paying for the suit hire"

ahh so handouts. how patronising. Do they think your DH can't afford clothes? and presumably the control freaks will be dictating what he wears?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/02/2013 12:40

Wear a black dress.
With a veil.
One of those short dresses with the long sheer skirt over the top would be tasteful.

And weep hysterically when they get to the "Any lawful impediment " part.

Peevish · 22/02/2013 12:40

Check the date again, and discover that it's on a Significant Date They Should Have Known About, the Bastards, like your dog's birthday - how very dare they book a wedding in order to steal Fido's thunder?

SPBInDisguise · 22/02/2013 12:40

OK I think I've gone as far as I can with this one :o

SPBInDisguise · 22/02/2013 12:41

No stamp on the RSVP Shock
Why should you pay to attend their special day? Eh? Eh?

Binkyridesagain · 22/02/2013 12:42

So they're willing to fund your DH's outfit but not yours?

Bastards!

youmeatsix · 22/02/2013 12:43

"they even said they don't want presents " isnt that the veiled way of saying "give us cash not that tat you would have picked for us"?

SnowyWellies · 22/02/2013 12:47

Oh Fucksville.

i am 40 next year and was planning a colour theme. Is that naff then?

[back to drawing board]

LetMeAtTheWine · 22/02/2013 12:53

Perhaps there will be an entrance fee when you arrive?

WhatchaMaCalllit · 22/02/2013 12:55

There has to be something up with this - surely it's a vegetarian only event or something....I'd be asking questions if I were you Wink

Foggles · 22/02/2013 12:56

They don't want presents or cash donations as they're just going to send you a bill for their honeymoon.

babanouche · 22/02/2013 12:56

Highchairs? You mean there will be CHILDREN there? Obviously you're not going!

nickelbabe · 22/02/2013 13:20

is it in a church?
if it's not in a church, then complain.
heathens.

if it is in a church, then you've got loads to pick up on - i bet the hymns will be shit, the music on a CD (taking the organist's fee away from him) and no choir.
Philastines.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 13:23

Hmm. It is in a church.

I am an atheist. I find that very offensive, thinking about it.
