If cartoon is just a cartoon, then all the books in the world are just paper. Mark Kermode says that the Toy Stories are the only perfect trilogy. Him and Simon Mayo can't talk about them without welling up and coughing in an embarrassed fashion. One of the reasons I [heart] Mark Kermode.

Yanbu, it is a fantastic film with an incredibly poignant denoument.

I have, many many times. I like all the Toy Story films but TS3 doesn't make my cry.

Me and dh agree the toys story films are definitely 3 of the best films ever and very poignant.

I had to switch it off the first time I tried to watch it.

I got as far as the incinerator and couldn't stop sobbing. I watched it again on my own soon after and sobbed from the start to the finish as I knew what was ahead from the get go. Even reading posts now about the film has me welling up. big girls blouse

Aw, see it's not so much Toy Story 3 with me that makes me blub. I sat with not a single tear rolling down at that in the cinema. stony faced
It's always been Toy Story 2 with me. That song and that bit where Jessie gets dumped at the side of the road and her owner abandoned her?!
Listen to all the lyrics of that song and Jessie peeking out of the cardboard box and I defy you not to blub, just a little bit. Waaaaahhhhhh

I weep like a baby, as does DH. Weirdly, I think children don't find 3 as sob-inducing as adults because they aren't thinking about their children moving out, growing up, changing but we are.
Ohh, you've just made me feel young for the first time in forever. I sometimes think, even though I'm "old", the mum bit in me is lacking that I don't think the Andy getting old thing and not wanting to play with his toys is something to worry about.
As I only have pre teen small people.
I'll probably get it and cry at Toy Story 3 in 10 years time, but until then Toy Story 2 and the Jessie dumping bit gets me!

You are missing the point, my teddy is actually alive. Don't tell me that you don't still cuddle your teddy.

Never get rid of a loved teddy. I grew out of mine and would have chucked him away in my teens, but my parents sensibly put him away, nothing would part me from him now. However I am completely unmoved by the Toy Story films, seen them once and that's been enough.
