AIBU to bid up to £100 for a spare favourite toy?

My 10mo ds has a discontinued cuddly toy that he needs to get to sleep. He sucks it so after 3 days it stinks to high heaven and needs decontamination washing. Wash day is a nightmare as he has to have at least one nap without it and it needs me with him for 40mins, while 2yo dd is plonked in front of Cbeebies.

In addition to trying every online shop, rl shop and the manufacturer for a spare, I have searched eBAY daily since May using 4 search terms and one has finally come up - start bid was 99p so I put on a safely high max bid of £30Shock . Some bugger just outbid me! It originally cost less than a tenner new.

So, would ibu to increase my bid to £40? £60? £100?! If iabu, how much is your child's favourite/needed toy worth to you?

I had to order a spare from ebay US of my youungest's comforter- we had bought 2, but he lost one, flung from the buggy on a walk with grandparents.
He still chews it to death (4yo) and I'm so glad I replaced it... was more like £30 than £100 though!

What is it?

NeopreneMermaid · 06/02/2013 12:24

Soup and Ader, you are so lovely. I hope I'd do that for a lost toy too.

Ends in 90mins. Gah. Still not decided.

Post a link

NeopreneMermaid · 06/02/2013 12:28

I know, I know I should have waited until the last second to bid but I didn't want to risk missing this while trying to wrangle the dcs into the car or whatever.

Will try and get a pic if my phone lets me.

ValiumQueen · 06/02/2013 12:29

The anticipation is killing me...

fryingpantoface · 06/02/2013 12:30

Link to the eBay page?

FairyJen · 06/02/2013 12:30

Or give title of eBay listing so can find it an link for you

NeopreneMermaid · 06/02/2013 12:32

Gah. Can't copy and paste on this phone. It's a Jellycat Chimboo dog, the small one (23cm). I bought the mouse version (for £8!) and that is occasionally deemed to be an acceptable substitute but rarely these days.

Anyone got one? You know how much I'm not really willing to pay! Wink

NeopreneMermaid · 06/02/2013 12:39

Not quite Mary. Right make but that's the bigger one. We need the small one (23cm, not 35cm).
