To give a 9 year old boy a stick insect as a present (in a jar, not free)

Urgghhh! My dad brought home a two legged stick insect that nobody wanted to look after for the summer hols (he was a teacher). We thought it was pretty much dead but it still managed to lay eggs. By the end of the summer we had hundreds. And then they escaped the cage. We were finding them in the folds of the curtains, down the side of the sofa, sometimes we would find the cat crunching one up on the carpet. I would never ever EVER let my kids have one!
