To report this dog owner?

I was outside today when I saw a neighbours two dogs out on the green, unsupervised. About 10 minutes later the owner comes and calls them and disappears back inside. The dogs go but one stops to do a shit and then keeps going in.
As my mindee was napping I asked eldest DC to knock and tell them that one of her dogs pooed on the green area. DC came back looking for a bag and when I asked why she said the neighbour told her you'll pick it up for me,won't you, good girl.
I said no,they are her dogs. DH came home a few minutes later (I wasn't expecting him home early) so I nipped across and told her she had no right telling my child to clean up after her dogs.

The turd is still there, I know I went out and checked. WIBU to report her?

It's proof though isn't it?

That's why these people get away with it because the council aren't going to send it off for DNA testing.

GlitterySkulls · 01/02/2013 22:39

i wouldn't report her for dogshit (not a popular view, i know) but i WOULD have tore a strip off her for a) letting her dogs out unsupervised (they could have been injured/ stolen/ they could have run away) & b) telling YOUR child to pick up HER dog's shit.

LovesGSD · 01/02/2013 22:41

yip phone the dog warden and report.

KC225 · 01/02/2013 22:44

Agree, phone the dog warden

NothingIsAsBadAsItSeems · 01/02/2013 22:45

Pick the dog poo up and leave it on her doorstep? I'd post it through the letterbox, can't stand people not picking up after their dogs

She will probably know it's you though since you've already confronted her about it

AreYouADurtBirdOrALadyBird · 01/02/2013 22:50

I would love to Nothing but it would fairly obvious.
There's a neighbourhood tots football league on Saturdays on that green so it needs to be picked up anyway.
Dog Warden would probably come out Tuesday or Wednesday as we have two dog wardens to cover a fairly large area.

Report, please. This is wrong on many levels and I speak as both a patent and dog owner!

Arseface · 01/02/2013 22:56

Parent, even Blush

AreYouADurtBirdOrALadyBird · 01/02/2013 22:58

I have a dog too, albeit an incredibly lazy one who shuffles out for a poo and then shuffles back in.

I do always clean up after lazy dog,as its out the back he does it.

He won't poo on his walk. He won't walk on his walk.

YANBU, report it.

I am phoning the council next week as the amount of dog shit around here is beyond a fucking joke. I walk past at least 20 poos on the pavements and grassed areas taking my son to school and his school is less than half a mile away. Trying to dodge it with a child with SN and a pushchair is a nightmare!

As if that's not bad enough, some bastard/s regularly lets their dog/dogs shit in mine and neighbours' front gardens without picking it up. What sort of person doesn't pick up their dog's shit from someone else's garden?! Angry

DeepRedBetty · 01/02/2013 23:14

I would report too, you're an eye witness, that's proof enough surely? And asking Some One Else's child to pick your dog's poop - yeuch!

quoteunquote · 01/02/2013 23:36

Got any giant chalk? buy some.

When one of my lovely neighbours went away for a year sabbatical, she rented out her house to a horrible woman, who for some reason thought she was going to get away with letting her dog poo everywhere, (we live in a hamlet off a village where everyone knows each other),

I did my usual of saying,"Oh do you need a bag" with a smile, and shaming her into picking it up, but every time she thought no one was looking she would leave it, which was unacceptable,

so I drew a big arrow and the words "DOG POO!" and then a long line with arrows all the way to her door, I only had to do it twice and she scrupulously picked up every single poo,

I pick up all our dogs poos, and I do not want people to resent dogs because some owners are lazy, so I will tackle anyone letting the side down.

twoboyslater · 01/02/2013 23:50

QuoteUnquote- you are my hero for this story.

quoteunquote · 03/02/2013 12:16

It really works,

they can't kick up a fuss, as they know it is their dog's,

So they have to stop as that the only way no one will draw a line pointing at their failings.

kinkyfuckery · 03/02/2013 12:22

I don't understand why the fuck people don't pick up after their dog! Surely it should come as naturally as wiping your arse, or eating, or locking the front door when you go out.

Pick up your fucking shit, dog owners!! Angry

CombineBananaFister · 03/02/2013 12:30

Cheeky mare asking your child to do it! She can't even claim she didn't realise it was there as you made her aware of it - some people just seem to think they are above cleaning shit up. Don't have a bloody dog then. It seems to getting worse where we live, it drives me crackers and gives responsible dog owners a bad name. A lovely summers walk on our country lane/bike path ruined by playing dodge the shit and the pleasant aroma of warm poo Angry Wish the council were as bothered about this type of littering as they are about picnic waste, it's just as bad imo. Love the chalk idea but I'd need a LOT of chalk for the distance back to peoples houses. Reort!

CombineBananaFister · 03/02/2013 12:31

report Blush

Saski · 03/02/2013 12:32

This infuriates me. No one made you get a dog. Clean up after it. What is the use of all this modern plumbing we have if we're still wading in dog shit?

SoniaGluck · 03/02/2013 12:33

Pick up your fucking shit, dog owners!! Most of us do. Hmm

And those of us who do get just as annoyed with the few who don't as non dog owners (and dog haters).

Rugbycomet · 03/02/2013 14:30

We have phoned the dog warden when our children were little. It never happened again.

Alternatively, you could pick it up, knock on her door and say "I believe this belongs to you". Grin. Hand it over and walk away!

Dannilion · 03/02/2013 14:44

Rugbys idea, definitely! And then tell her if you're forced to do it again in order to protect your child you WILL be calling the dog warden.

Bloody hell, even I can manage to pick up my Alsatians monster poos and I'm 32 weeks PG with crippling SPD!

Scheherezade · 03/02/2013 16:08

Post it through her letter box

AmandinePoulain · 03/02/2013 16:14

Ahh but you see it's on the grass and apparently you don't need to pick it up if it's on the grass. Didn't know that rule? Well, it's true, the young man that I challenged on the way to school on Friday told me. He said that he didn't need to pick it up and that dd shouldn't be on the grass, then she wouldn't tread in it. So there you go, she isn't in the wrong, clearly you are (as was I) Hmm

Saski · 03/02/2013 16:19

I've been told it's not necessary on the street either, because it just goes on the car wheels and that's fine.
