YANBU! Especially when it's on a controversial subject (SAHM/WOHM debates are always a good one). I can just picture them using our quotes for their article and I just think LAZY JOURNALIST.

HollyBerryBush · 29/01/2013 22:14

they must be bad journos bcause the only think I've ever seen in the press is an advert declaring 'Lidl, voted best supermarket by Mumsnet' .... and I laughed and laughed Grin

blackeyedsusan · 29/01/2013 22:15

HeavenlyAmy · 29/01/2013 23:17

I'm wondering what happened to the lady whose son went off

here

TotallyBS · 29/01/2013 23:24

The OP posted at 10pm. 15 min later she is challenged her for not coming back to the thread???

The OP has probably signed off and gone to bed.

I don't tend to start threads but I have been known to ignore responses and to simply abandon the thread.

Recently a mom asked for advice concerning CM v nursery for her baby. I mentioned that I had used a mom I knew as a child minder before later employing. The OPs question was quickly ignored and instead I was accused of dodging NI payments (the mom was doing me a favour and I gave her some money because I didnt want to take advantage of her). Then I got a lecture on how it was illegal to employ a CM that wasn't registered. Then I got grief for saying that a lot of CMs were mums looking for extra income

TotallyBS · 29/01/2013 23:32

(pressed submit too soon)

... and were therefore not professionals. It wasn't meant to denigrate their professionalism. It was simply an observation that to many being a CM wasn'tva career.

Anyway, I quickly abandoned the thread. I suspect that a lot of OPs abandon a thread for similar reasons. There are a lot of posters out there who will insist on ignoring the elephant and instead turn the thread into a bun fight about implied slights etc.

I suspect that I will be abandoning this thread shortly :)

shutthebloodydoor · 29/01/2013 23:36

totally hit the nail on head!

ellangirl · 29/01/2013 23:47

I'm here! Took the opportunity to get a tiny bit of sleep before being woken again by small demanding hungry baby!
I don't blame people who are being abused for not returning, like totally said. linerunner and blackeyed are you serious? Not returning within minutes of thread starting was not what I meant!!! Was more a lighthearted comment on people not responding when they asked for help to find a dress or something...

TotallyBS · 30/01/2013 00:07

So many people agreeing with me. That doesn't happen often here on AIBU :)

RandallPinkFloyd · 30/01/2013 00:10

Oops, I feel bad for not updating now. Blush

Just to put your minds at rest, I can confirmed that The Big Car has gone. The normal one is back, he must have just been borrowing it.

Soz.

TotallyBS · 30/01/2013 00:38

To the poster who asked about her PC problems, if you aren't going to answer my diagnostic questions then don't waste my time by posting the question in the first place. It was before Christmas but I might as well joint in the rant now :)

recall · 30/01/2013 00:44

this one is driving me fekkin MAD !!!!!!

BlueSuedeStiletto · 30/01/2013 00:44

I did it once. My thread was name changed and work related, and someone from my company saw it and I got a bollocking! Silly cunts. I wasn't even slagging them off, just asking for advice

I think 30min or even half day gaps between responses are fully acceptable. However, it is really frustrating when a thread has no conclusion, especially when you've read through 20 pages.

ellangirl · 30/01/2013 08:36

Recall that is infuriating!

flowery · 30/01/2013 08:49

YANBU. People do it loads on Employment threads, usually when people haven't agreed with their assessment that their employer was being outrageous and illegal and a tribunal claim should be made immediately.

I got fed up with it and expressed as much recently and got grief for doing so Hmm.

I'm on a break from Employment now...

TotallyBS · 30/01/2013 09:00

flowery - you came to AIBU for a break? The home of the Sisterhood of Dump the Bastard?
