To have a nice civilized conversation on mum's net. Free from swearing and all other kinds of unpleasantness. Where the topics of conversation are such delightful things as the Queen, tea, cakes and gardening, with perhaps a bit of singing thrown in for good measure. So Ill kick it off shall I, what is everyones favourite cake, mine is a Victoria Sponge

Gateau Diane well really any cake at all, as long as it doesn't combine orange and chocolate

Raven

[Needs brain bleach after HD's cartwheel] Actually, does that come in cake format outside of Amsterdam?

MyCatIsAStupidBastard · 26/01/2013 21:03

Callmedoe · 26/01/2013 21:03

I'd like to apologize to everyone else on the thread, Mum's net and the World Wide Web at large for Honey Dragon's disgraceful behaviour. I'd also like to encourage you all to ignore any further exhibitionist behaviour from here as we don't want to encourage her inappropriateness any further. Thank you, Doris

What's gateau diane?

HoneyDragon should have waxed her ninny before she did that cartwheel, very unhygienic* on a cake thread.

*Is that spelt right? Looks funny.

thegreylady · 26/01/2013 21:10

I am very partial to a nicely iced coffee cake.Lemon drizzle is also pleasant although you cant beat a good home made fruit cake.
Must be served with tea in a china mug-I have some rather pleasing Spode ones with a willow pattern design.
Oh and thank you for the invitation to call you doe;however I will wait until we have been properly introduced :)

I don't have a favourite cake. I just realised. Although Madeira and tiramisu come close.

Cake mixture though is the yummiest.

Sorry that last comment was aimed at Honey Dragon not anyone else

Badgers - It's basically a decent hazelnut/almond triple layer meringue with dark chocolate cream between each layer, and topped with a further chocolate cream layer studded with almonds/hazelnuts.

(TBF - almond is the standard but DM does it with hazelnuts instead and is divine .)

Looks a bit like this Grin

MoonlightandRoses · 26/01/2013 21:42

HotPink - umm are you saying she may be coming back smelling of 'fundament' of Roses? Grin Grin

thegreylady · 26/01/2013 21:45

I am wondering if one could perhaps utilise the dragon to huff on a teacake so it is all toast and we could spread it with butter and...yes honey :)

AwkwardSquad · 26/01/2013 21:48

Agnes reporting back! Scones with clotted cream and home made strawberry jam. Little finger sandwiches (cucumber). Earl Grey. Fruit cake, lemon drizzle (huzzah!) and banana bread. And some other jolly nice treats. It was altogether delightful Grin.

Ginger cake with butter, served with a nice cup of tea and a jolly natter.
For birds, you can't beat a nice robin redbreast tweetling away.
Am very shocked to hear of no buttercream on Victoria Sandwich. I can't believe the WI are so stern. I feel, I don't know, a little ashamed of my past association with those miscreants, somewhat defiled Confused

Molepom · 26/01/2013 22:07

Black Forest gateaux and yes, I do tend to eat the entire cake by myself in one sitting.

StanleyLambchop · 26/01/2013 22:12

Another vote for Madeira cake. Also Profiteroles, do they count as cake? My favourite snack is crisps though, especially with wine.

Preferably cheesernonion flavour.
