to think my friend should have changed her childs nappy?

Me and a friend went shopping today and decided to get the bus. Finished shopping and started queuing to get he return bus home, when her DS(2) poos in his nappy just as the bus gets there.

She says he'll be fine and we get on the bus. The journey can take anywhere between 30 - 50 minutes. This one took us around 40ish minutes.

We were only about a 5 minute walk from public toilets and the bus runs every 15 minutes anyway.

It couldn't have been comfortable for her son.

Well if he was crying because he was uncomfortable then of course she should have changed him.

But you didn't say that, did you? Drip-feeding.

I'm not passive aggressive by the way. I'm aggressive aggressive.

Kalisi · 25/01/2013 23:18

I fail to see the problem with waiting until she got home.
And changing on the bus?! Eww Hmm

JaambaJuice · 25/01/2013 23:20

Didn't mention in OP as he only started crying half way home, too late to do anything about it then.

It was more in reference to people saying their baby wouldn't mind being left in a dirty nappy.

BarredfromhavingStella · 25/01/2013 23:20

IT's really not a big deal, get over it-fuck me I thought I was angry Hmm

Put a different spin on it, you're out with baby in pram & he falls asleep, you realise he's pooed-do you wake him???

Kalisi · 25/01/2013 23:21

Just read the extra drip about child becoming upset, it changes the scenario slightly I guess but still, there was bugger all she could do once on there really.

AgentZigzag · 25/01/2013 23:22

'I'm not passive aggressive by the way. I'm aggressive aggressive.'

Hahahahaha Grin

Greensleeves · 25/01/2013 23:22

Do you know for sure that he was crying because of his nappy? Was he holding up a sign? 2yos cry for all sorts of reasons.

It does seem an odd thing to get all exercised about. Did you talk to your friend about it at the time?

MrsDimples · 25/01/2013 23:24

YANBU

Urine mixing with faeces causes nappy rash.
I would of changed on the bus.

JaambaJuice · 25/01/2013 23:24

That is why I didn't mention it in the OP Kalisi

Barred where did I say he was asleep?

And why I am angry? Because I replied to a passive aggressive post saying that people could start whatever thread they wanted to. Yes, I am raging mad, I've practically turned into the hulk Hmm

OP posts:
JaambaJuice · 25/01/2013 23:26

Yes he was crying about of that Greensleeves as he kept talking about his nappy.

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 25/01/2013 23:27

Probably would have been useful to have included it in your OP then. Did you express your feelings to your friend at the time?

Tincletoes · 25/01/2013 23:27

DS would have been absolutely fine - very resistant bottom

Dd on the other hand would be a dreadful state after 40 minutes in a dirty nappy

Maybe your friend just knows her son?

pigletmania · 25/01/2013 23:30

If the bus had pulled up iwould rather have changed my baby in a warm clean environment, than a cold rank public toilet. Not a biggie, I have done this a couple of times when dd was a baby and her bottoms been fine. Overreaction by some on here

Greensleeves · 25/01/2013 23:30

haha at "resistant bottom£, ds2 had one of those, the grotty little herbert

ds1 would have been appalled though

it does depend on so may incidental factors, it's not the sort of issue you can produce a blanket edict on with so little information. Just the nuts and bolts of daily parenting, isn't it? Nobody gets it right every time.

katykuns · 25/01/2013 23:30

What's wrong with changing the nappy on the bus? If you could do it relatively discreetly and not let the bum touch the seat then it's okay surely? Passengers are stuck with the smell anyway, and its likely to smell less bad if its in a nappy bag inside another bag?

pigletmania · 25/01/2013 23:31

Changing on a bus disgusting, other passengers do not want a wiff of poo on a warm bus

Booyhoo · 25/01/2013 23:33

you got kids OP?

pigletmania · 25/01/2013 23:34

My ds is 12 months and a right little wriggler and roller noway could I change him discretely on a confined bus

usualsuspect · 25/01/2013 23:34

We all make a judgment call as parents sometimes, do you get it right every time OP?

AgentZigzag · 25/01/2013 23:37

But that's like saying the other people on the bus are more important than the lad Piglet.

If I travelled lots on busses and DD was 2 and didn't like having a shitty nappy, I wouldn't give a monkeys whether other people didn't like it or not. Being considerate of other people wouldn't run to making my 2 YO sit in her own shit.

It's possible the passengers might have preferred not to sit with it honking and the lad be all uncomfortable?

(although I don't have a sense of smell and this might skew my hoiking skills Grin)

JaambaJuice · 25/01/2013 23:38

Yes I had children Booyhoo DD4 and second one in summer.

OP posts:
breatheslowly · 25/01/2013 23:40

I would have gone to the loo to change the nappy before getting on the bus as DD gets sore after 5 min of pooing. Changing a poo on a bus is out of the question for me as I think the smell would be horrendous.

AgentZigzag · 25/01/2013 23:41

And have you changed her on a bus Jaamba?

pigletmania · 25/01/2013 23:41

Agent that's up to you, we are all entitled to our views and I would personally fwould find it unpleasant to change ds nappy on the bus, not only myself with poo everywhere but also I do take passengers feelings to heart too

pigletmania · 25/01/2013 23:42

The speed in which some drivers go and Milton Keynes being full of roundabouts no no no
