Plenty of people who look like nothing nature designed, reside in certain parts of Kent. I'm not keen on the look but each to their own.

Cakethrow · 25/01/2013 22:00

I think you'll find this look exists in abundance all over the country.

I don't think Essex had first dibs on it to be honest.

discorabbit · 25/01/2013 22:01

essex and liverpool then Wink

There is a certain style that seems to have become ubiquitous: fake tan, straightened hair, overplucked eyebrows, fake eyelashes etc.

Annunziata · 25/01/2013 22:03

Oh bugger off. DD was out last night in a leopard print dress, high eyes etc. She's also studying aeronautics. It's only clothes.

HollyBerryBush · 25/01/2013 22:07

I thought it was on the decrease.

I had all 190 of Y11 in front me today, there were only two orange ones. Two aubergine purple birds nest. Vast improvement on previous years standards of grooming

Annunziata · 25/01/2013 22:07

High heels/ eye make up (she does not get her brains from me Grin)

80sMum · 25/01/2013 22:08

It isn't 'only clothes' though is it? Appearance is the first thing people notice about a person. The way someone presents himself/herself has a powerful influence on how he/she is perceived by others.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/01/2013 22:11

I hope you are right HollyBerry.

I live in Essex and have a 10yo DD (who is spectacularly gorgeous if I say so myself)
I'm dreading if she goes down the TOWIE/ Jordan/Jodie Marsh vacuous walking make-up counter look.

discorabbit · 25/01/2013 22:12

bugger off? charming

also studying aeronautics is different to actually working in aeronautics isn't it Wink

HollyBerryBush There's hope for the future then.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/01/2013 22:16

what is wrong with the Towie 'look' in your opinion, disco?

Annunziata · 25/01/2013 22:16

Ah, but she'll be there one day soon :)

VelvetSpoon · 25/01/2013 22:17

theres nothing wrong with false eyelashes and eyeliner, I wear both regularly. and fake tan and huge high heels. because I like them.

I'm also a lawyer, and an Oxbridge graduate. But feel free to judge a book by its cover Hmm

discorabbit · 25/01/2013 22:19

i suppose the same as i hate any 'look' i was never one for bubble perms or pixie boots, people all wearing the same things for the sake of fashion

the essex look does seem to me to be very high maintenance than usual though, lots of hours spent in spray tans salons and applying the fakeness

i do watch snog marry avoid so know what i'm on about Wink

WorraLiberty · 25/01/2013 22:19

Even if this look disappears, it'll be replaced by another look that parents screw their noses up at.

Your parents aren't supposed to like your look when you're a teenager

I thought everyone knew this? Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/01/2013 22:19

It's only clothes
my DD wore shorts, a vest top, a long shirt and Converses to go round to the shops with me last summer. It was about 5pm.

Twice she was cat-called by 2 seperate cars of young men.

She's 10 yo.
She's tall, slim with long hair.

Only clothes? You'll excuse me if I don't relish my DD embracing the TOWIE look Hmm

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/01/2013 22:20

70isa, don't blame the clothes, blame the men cat calling a pre-teen

discorabbit · 25/01/2013 22:21

velvet would you not feel silly standing up in court in fake eyelashes and fake tan?

Change your perception then.

Twice she was cat-called by 2 seperate cars of young men.

The same young men probably found the insults directed towards Mary Beard, hysterical.

It isn't the females who need to make a change.

I am in Liverpool. I and my DD's do the scouse version of Towie when we go out. We like that look and won't be changing unless, we choose to.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/01/2013 22:25

Boys yes I know they were knobs.
And hopefully when they saw her properly (both times they were driving from behind us. It was the same journey, there and back) they realised she's a little girl.

Birdsgottafly · 25/01/2013 22:26

The beauty about fake tan and eyelashes is that they can be toned down, or taken off.

I have to change the way that i dress to go to court, but i wouldn't go out wearing the same clothes, i don't get your point, tbh.

I have gone brunette because i am chairing more meetings, though.

somedayma · 25/01/2013 22:27

so don't wear it then. you have a horrible attitude. and your 'studying it is different to working in it' was intentionally rude and patronising.
