to be furious with dh for eating cakes he knew were destined for the bin!

alfrex · 21/01/2013 14:57

OK. I bake a lot. And sometimes my cakes are beautiful, and we all enjoy them. But sometimes it does not go so well and the cakes come out sunk or burnt or still wet in the middle (if dh would get the fan fixed on the oven this would happen a lot less often, but that's another thread)

There is a system, dh and the children are well aware of it. If the cakes are good to eat, they either go in a freezer bag for later use, or in a sealed tin for use over the week, or on a plate on the side so that they can be eaten now. DH knows this and I never complain about him "sampling" even if th cakes are meant for after dinner or whatever. I bake a lot so there is usually something there if he fancies a nibble.

If the cakes are not up to scratch, they go in the bin as soon as they are cooled (or as soon as dh empties the bin - there's another thread there!)

so this morning dh saunters into the kitchen to get himself breakfast. I come in and find him cramming his mouth with the burnt, crappy cakes that were sitting in the bun tray by the bin. I was really pissed off and had a go at him for it. I can make really nice cakes and I make plenty of them, so he has no need to wind me up and embarrass me by eating the ones that have gone wrong. He know it is a pet hate of mine.

so he strops off to work having called me a "control freak" in front of our children who were sitting having their breakfast. I am Not Happy.

Is it wrong that I am also sniggering at all the bosom-hoisting going on regarding what constitutes trolling? This thread has got it all Grin.

FWIW I always think of trolls as people who tip up to a site they don't generally use with the sole intention of causing offence, upset and/or distress to the point where they get banned - and they don't tend to admit that their posts are untrue.

For me this was not that. This was a regular making a vair funny joke, and she held her hands up to it the same day (and received many well deserved pats on the back for her outstanding humour - still chuckling over "he is a Geography teacher").

Lighten up amillionyears people!

SundaysGirl · 22/01/2013 04:13

Well I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so whats the first thing I did (once i knew sleep was out of the question?) came here to check this thread!!!

PMSL, this made me giggle so much earlier...I half (meanly) sort of wanted it to be real since it was making me giggle so much, but glad it's not!!

Can't believe how many people are being grumpy about this. I think it was a hilarious act of geniusness! Other MN threads are going to seem dull by comparison today. X

HecateWhoopass · 22/01/2013 06:32

Oh
My
GOD

That was AMAZING!

Grin

I went from being worried for your mental health to being convinced you were a troll to back to being worried about your mental health!

Well played Greey, well played. Grin

HecateWhoopass · 22/01/2013 06:36

Oh, meant to say - I remember the 'good old days' when we could have a laugh and everyone would take it in the spirit it was intended.

But I think the influx of nasty trolls has changed people's view of it.

Thank god for that, Marslady can sleep soundly knowing her Lemon Drizzle recipe still reigns supreme!

(I couldn't believe someone could mess that one up - was quite worried about the state of OPs oven Blush)

Joiningthegang · 22/01/2013 07:10

You are brilliant and hilarious and need to be in classics (and i only did up to pg 9 and the last bit )

amillionyears · 22/01/2013 07:19

hopkinette, trolling cannot be enforced, because MNHQ allows trolling by posters in the name of "wind-up", and who knows what else.

amillionyears · 22/01/2013 07:20

But there is no need to say any more as only 5 posters understand.

CotherMuckingFunt · 22/01/2013 07:21

Garlic was you??

GwendolineMaryLacey · 22/01/2013 07:30

You were the garlic shitter? :o

Flossiechops · 22/01/2013 07:30

I don't understand. So as long as your a regular and having a laugh it's ok for the thread to stand?? The op is a self confessed troll, my sides are splitting....

Dawndonna · 22/01/2013 07:31

Well done, it did brighten up a rubbish day, although there were points were I was seriously concerned about you!

amillionyears · 22/01/2013 07:37

Welcome Flossiechops, number 6

HecateWhoopass · 22/01/2013 07:42

It always used to be, Flossie.

It used to be that you could name change and have a laugh and everyone understood that's what it was. And if you were taken in by it - you'd laugh at yourself after, and later on, everyone would be laughing about the time you all got taken in by X and the mouse she baked into her mother in law's portion of steak and kidney pie...

But, those days are gone (sadly! It was fun and everyone knew it was. Well, not everyone, I'm sure Grin but many) because of the sheer number of emotional vampire trolls, the gimmeeyermoney trolls and the out and out abusive trolls. Instead of seeing fun, we see yet another piss taker. Me too. I reported this thread when I began to think it was trolling. I used to laugh along.

I think many mners have lost their taste for the wind up. I understand why. But I think it's a shame. We've lost a bit of the fun, because of the arseholes.

amillionyears · 22/01/2013 07:44

Well done Hecate number 7

amillionyears · 22/01/2013 07:47

I think MNHQ do not realise and understand what it is like for genuine posters.

LtEveDallas · 22/01/2013 07:52

Oh amillionyears, please don't turn this thread into yet another thread where you complain about MNHQ. It's rather rude.

BoringSchoolChoiceNickname · 22/01/2013 07:53

But MNHQ didn't deliberately validate a wind-up - it was a cockup on their part. They didn't say "yes this woman has definitely made a sub-standard cake which her DH has eaten" - obvs they can never do that because they don't know. They said "she's not an invader from another site, she's a regular", which was true. They didn't realise greeny was taking the piss because they'd clearly been on the gin.

amillionyears · 22/01/2013 07:58

HelenMumsnet's words 23.32pm "- by which time the MNHQer on duty has assumed [understandably] that we knew it was a wind-up and were just playing along"

HeadfirstForHalos · 22/01/2013 08:02

I'm a genuine poster, I liked it Hmm

trixymalixy · 22/01/2013 08:09

I'm a genuine poster too and miss threads like these, they're what lead to my love of MN. They're few and far between now. Now AIBU is just everyone pile in and give the OP a kicking and then the next week an OP will be the same situation from the opposite point of view and everyone will again pile in and give the OP a kicking.

FloatyBeatie · 22/01/2013 08:10

I think amillionyears is actually Greensleeves winding us up again -- next she will be telling us all off for scoffing this thread greedily when according to her system it was substandard and should have been chucked in the bin by MNHQ

McKayz · 22/01/2013 08:12

I'm a regular and thought it was brilliant. She didn't ask for money or talk about emotional subjects. She was moaning her husband ate burnt cakes.

Hardly something to get so het up about.

amillionyears · 22/01/2013 08:19

FB, as you very well know, I am a MN regular.
But that is the point isnt it?
