Marmite and marriage! (Lighthearted)

Binkyridesagain · 20/01/2013 19:01

DH and I have been married for 17years, through all this time he has known there is a line that you do not cross, the marmite line, on one side is me the hater, the other is him the lover, I am quite happy for him to indulge in his vile habit and there is space in the cupboard for him to store the various jars he collects, I believe I am showing a level of tolerance that is above and beyond what most women would endure.

He knows that if he wants to indulge and spread the sludge on his bread he can but he must keep it away from me and anything that I cherish and hold dear.

The bastard has introduced MY dog to it and the bitch likes it. I don't know who has betrayed me more, him for crossing the line or her for siding with him on the love it/hate it argument

I can't believe he would risk 17 years of marriage for this.

AIBU or should I LTB

Marmite, the finest product available for export in the whole of the UK. We should be proud and bravely take it to countries where it was never seen before!

Bogeyface · 20/01/2013 22:54

Ah but the question is, which side of the water is he from? Thats the acid test?

The Swan side or the Posts side?

zoobaby · 20/01/2013 22:56

DP does weird things like mix his marmite with jam. Big gloops of both. Yeurk!!! Makes me sick just watching it slither off the knife. I've promised him that I'll try my darndest to instill a love of vegemite into our DS just as soon as he starts solids :)

For those who aren't in the know, the secret to vege is less is more... just let the bread get a sniff of it. Mmmmm.

Interestingly (sad but true... I have indeed pondered this) marmite is akin to vegemite mixed with golden syrup. I bet that's how they make the awful stuff.

Binkyridesagain · 20/01/2013 22:59

Bogey you've baffled him!

He is not a true Burtonian then! North of the river is the Swan (at the end of the bridge) and South of the River is (or was) the Blue Posts on High Street!

Bogeyface · 20/01/2013 23:01

Ok, is he Winshill side or Horninglow side?!

Binkyridesagain · 20/01/2013 23:05

Just worked it out, posts I think, ashby road.He did leave 30 yrs ago I'm sure he can be forgiven.

Dh pulled a face last night when I was making marmite and cheese twists to have with soup. Then ate 6 of them Grin

He's a member of the dark sticky side now.

ddubsgirl · 20/01/2013 23:10

Marmite is good for pets! In small doses!

Mayanbob · 20/01/2013 23:14

about vegemite not Marmite... but thought you'd appreciate this OP

Bogeyface · 20/01/2013 23:14

He is Swan side! I am Swan side too, I shall forgive him his woeful memory! My best friend lived on Ashby Road!

He now gets a Winshill Marmite flavoured Mwah!

Yep, he remembers cycling past it when he was a nipper.
He's spent the last 10 mins reliving fond memories whilst eating more marmite.
This is not what I had planned!

Bogeyface · 20/01/2013 23:37

YANBU Ltb.

Plomino · 20/01/2013 23:57

I adore it . Have it on crumpets with cheese , spread it on ready rolled puff pastry as a thin layer which I then roll up to make little spirally biscuits that I can't think what they're called . Love it .

DH however literally cannot stomach it . As I learned when we were first living together . I accidentally shoved a plateful of marmite toast under his nose , only to watch in bemusement as he went first white , then green , then threw up , then went to bed with a migraine . And he hasn't got any better since .

I have however given it to all my dc's who also love it . So he is in a minority .

Beaverfeaver · 21/01/2013 00:09

I don't love it or hate it.

Could take it or leave it.
