Parents fighting in school yard...

AltinkumATEalltheTurkey · 18/01/2013 09:12

Yesterday we received a letter from the school stating that the incident was under control and appropriate action was beig took.

Apparently two mum had a full on fisty/hair pulling fight infront of the nursery/reception parents/children and the reception teacher had to break them up.

Thankfully ds didn't see it as we were running late but does any MN who are teachers know what the action would be...

According to people gossip these parents are constantly battling over their children, and is more than likely to happen again...

If my ds seen this he would be beside himself as he has serious trust issues and is still not m100% confident in shook.

Nothing to add apart from Earthworm Jim? Wink

Icantstopeatinglol · 18/01/2013 12:27

Ha ha yea earthworm jim school lol! Don't really want to name school as it has a good reputation and don't want 2 idiots ruining that iyswim. Tho I will put your suggestions forward if they ever look to rename the school ha! Grin

This is a brilliant thread. A fight at school, two MNetters brought together, and a mystery to solve...

Even wikipedia isn't really helping:
Invertebrate animals commonly called "worms" include annelids (earthworms), nematodes (roundworms), platyhelminthes (flatworms), marine polychaete worms (bristle worms), marine nemertean worms ("bootlace worms"), marine Chaetognatha (arrow worms), priapulid worms, and insect larvae such as caterpillars, grubs, and maggots.

OP Surely its not

The Thread Academy
St Tapes
Maggot Hall School

"One of the teachers and a TA had a fist fight in the dinner hall infront of the kids once. They weren't banned. "

Were they sacked?

DressageNut · 18/01/2013 12:45

I'm thinking of the Lambton Worm...

Dededum · 18/01/2013 12:45

Was on a 4 day residential trip as parent helper. Parents of enough child turned up, she whined about friendship issues and mum walked it to a dormitory and laid in to a group of 4 girls. It was horrendous, the kids were over a hundred miles from home.

TidyDancer · 18/01/2013 12:46

Ooh ooh! If this is a school that is also baring the name of a farm animal (OP, Icantstop, is it?), then two of my DP's DN's go there. SIL told us about an incident....

Please say it's the same school. I want to join the MN love-in.

TidyDancer · 18/01/2013 12:47

Argh DressageNut ruined the anonymity! Angry

thegreylady · 18/01/2013 12:48

I know a NE song about a worm :-)
"Wheesht lads haud her gobs a'll tell ye arl an awfu' story " etc
Same worm?

DressageNut · 18/01/2013 12:49

Sorry!!!

Now have the "whist lads haad yer gobs" song stuck in my head...punishment enough!

TidyDancer · 18/01/2013 12:52

Haha, I was joking, don't worry! I think it must be the same school, it would be unlikely surely that two NE worm schools would have a brawl during the same week....unless it's more common than otherwise suspected!

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 18/01/2013 12:57

Unusual to have a school named Wiggly Woo.
Or is it Lowly?

Icantstopeatinglol · 18/01/2013 13:00

We may have been rumbled lol! Have to say tho, school is fab! Unfortunately same can't be said for certain parents! I was shocked to say the least!
I still prefer earthworm jim school ha! I'm sure the kids will too ha! Smile

thegreylady · 18/01/2013 13:02

Can you tell I am from NE originally? I went to school in Durham and I remember sitting on the edge of the stage belting that out at an end of year concert. Happy days...

DonderandBlitzen · 18/01/2013 13:04

Not Wormley Primary School in Herts then?

Chesntoots · 18/01/2013 13:09

I think you two should decide on a specific item of clothing to wear and hang around the school gates on Monday and meet up!

ballstoit · 18/01/2013 13:10

Perhaps the number of 'parent scraps' varies according to the area the school is in...my eldest DC is Year 3 and I have witnessed 3 fights at school since he started.

1.2 Mums came to blows as Mum 1 had been having an affair with Mum 2s sister's husband. Both were banned from school premises for a week.

  1. A Dad and Grandad (not of the same child) had a 'discussion' about a parking space outside school, which led to the Dad shoulder barging the Grandad to the ground. Both were permanently banned from school premises and Dad ended up in court charged with assault.
  1. 2 Mums had a roll on the floor, hair pulling and scratching fight as one of their children had been bullying the others (the fabulous example they were setting clearly helped). They are only allowed to use one of the entrances to the school (different one each), and one has to take her DD straight to reception to avoid them seeing each other. One of them kicked off again in the run up to christmas, as she was refused tickets to the nativity due to her previous behaviour.
SashaSashays · 18/01/2013 13:11

Am not part of all the mn love as I know of no worm schools.

But I have seen this happen 3 times. Twice at one school and once at another. Both primary's. I remember DC asking me if I would have a fight in the playground! They were all over silly things although one of them was a situation where I may have also needed restraining. The school was awful tbh and there were parents storming in to the place effing and blinding at teachers all the time, lots of arguments it was just rare that they turned into actual fights. One dad at one time was accused of breaking into another family at the schools house.

Thankfully moved since then,

I've seen a parent fight with another pupil at a secondary. Seen a parent fight with the ice cream lady outside a secondary too.

TandB · 18/01/2013 13:15

Just a head's up that if you don't want the school to be recognisable, you might want to delete that "hint."

Anyone living in or from the north-east is going to know immediately!

Icantstopeatinglol · 18/01/2013 13:22

Kungfu, do you mean the hint from altinkum? Tbh I don't think it's much of a secret but I know what you mean.

oldraver · 18/01/2013 13:29

Crikey I though being verbally abused by a parent was bad enough. She was warned that that kind of thing wasn't expected and the Head did have the power to ban her from school premises

The head also said she could take into account any episodes that happened outside of th school grounds, which did surprise me

BalloonSlayer · 18/01/2013 13:35

I was also thinking of the Wiggly Woo Academy (specialism: New Age Education).

Then I thought maybe a caterpillar could be considered a worm and maybe it was St Cecil's or something . . .

It is awful but I'd probably react the same way if someone slapped my 6 year old (which was a situation I saw).

Blu · 18/01/2013 13:56

An account of a playground fight involving stabbing with scissors not far from me.

The perpertrator was charged and prosecuted, and barred from school premises. The Head has left and the school has been demolished Shock

All the other nearby schools are lovely and peaceful. And to be fair, so was this one, as far as I know. Sadly motherhood is never a guarantee of decent behaviour, anywhere.
