because I've just received an e-mail from Parcel2Go, telling me that they are sending a parcel via Yodel tomorrow (or Yodel is collecting it tomorrow)?

So many MNetters have complained about Yodel not knocking on the door but leaving a card etc that I am thinking about it.

To begin with, I couldn't remember ordering anything but then realised that I'm expecting £400 worth of books in one parcel!! Yodel?!!!

The e-mail did give a tracking number so I'll be on top of it. Wish me luck, please!

I have had lots of deliveries from yodel and have never had a problem, it seems to be dependent on the area you live.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 09/01/2013 15:46

£400 worth of books? Envy are they for pleasure or study? (Sorry don't have any Yodel anecdotes).

espanol · 09/01/2013 15:47

Personally had no more problems with yodel than others.

ChaoticintheNewYear · 09/01/2013 15:48

No problems with Yodel here either.

LavenderPots · 09/01/2013 15:50

Yodel are excellent in our area!! good luck!

RuleBritannia · 09/01/2013 15:50

They are for pleasure, Donkeys. My son collects a particular kind of book so I buy them in advance for birthdays and Christmas if I can find them. In this case, they are for the next year few years because the wonderful opportunity arose.

Smile lucky boy that you keep an eye out for them.

RuleBritannia · 09/01/2013 16:25

amicissimma The person I ordered from has my e-mail address so could have passed it to Parcel2Go. It's more than possible that the sender is using a courier because the books would probably cost a lot more via Royal Mail / Parcel Force.

SarahWarahWoo · 09/01/2013 16:26

Never had a problem and like the local courier, I have also taken in parcels for friends and neighbours as I wfh.

RuleBritannia · 09/01/2013 16:28

Good thinking, amicissimma. I've forwarded the Parcel2Go e-mail to the supplier to see if he used that company.

I've never had a problem with Yodel and I've had a lot of parcels delivered by them.

zukiecat It's not 'all' those books. It's six. They are rare and I pounce if I come across them.

I used to collect particular books and eventually sold most of them at a healthy profit after I'd read, digested, read them again, kept them for years and written articles for an appreciation society.

NorksAreMessy · 09/01/2013 16:41

Now you do know we ned to know about the books, don't you? :)
You cant wander in talking about something so outside most people's imagining without giving us the full story

RuleBritannia · 09/01/2013 17:05

Oh well, he just collects old books signed by their authors or people mentioned in them.

My books were old Elsie Oxenham books (unsigned though). When I was a lot younger, they were in print and popular so aunts and uncles bought them for birthdays etc and I kept them. It was only about 20 years ago I found that they were desirable so looked for more.

The trouble is that everything is so commercial now and you can't find this sort of thing in a second hand bookshop or charity shop. You have to keep a look out for them without realising that you are doing it iyswim.

I was talking about Yodel not books. There have been posts in other threads that just pulled that courier company to pieces so I was rather 'disappointed' to learn that that company was going to not deliver my parcel.

The last parcel we had from yodel was left on the path outside our house in the pouring rain. We have a covered porch and a massive hedge along our front garden so they could have at least made a slightly better attempt at tucking it away somewhere but no, right on the public path Hmm We never had any problems with them at our old house though so I suppose it depends on if you get an idiot for a driver.

StuntGirl · 09/01/2013 18:44

I've had problems with virtually all courier services Grin Yodel once left my parcel on the front door step, which is directly on the street so not exactly safe or secure Hmm And once they stole my parcel, luckily the company were pretty quick about sending another out. I hope your books arrive safe and sound!

KatieScarlett2833 · 09/01/2013 20:45

Yodel man after 3 attempts at delivering large little tykes item just before Christmas " are they around?". I looked bemused as DC are 16 and 17 and yodel man said " don't want to spoil Santa for them"

He was so luffly that I didn't have the heart to say it was for baby goddaughter, just grinned and nodded. Bless his heart Grin

RuleBritannia · 10/01/2013 09:47

(a) The book person has confirmed that the parcel is from him.

(b) I'm able to track it (or so I'm told on websites) and it's currently 'on a van in Stoke'. It's a long way to come to Berkshire.

With a bit of luck I'll have it today so daren't go out even into the back garden until I have it safely.

Does anyone else forget what they've ordered on the internet? Should I start to keep a list and tick them off as they arrive? I'm beginning to think that I should order one thing and wait until it arrives before I order another!

I've never had a problem with Yodel. In fact I've only ever heard of problems with them on here.

I know someone who chooses to use them as her parcel delivery service because of their reliability.

I have emailed them previously to thank them for their great service.

RuleBritannia · 10/01/2013 18:48

I cannot believe this. I have been in all day and have just tried to track my parcel via an internet link. It tells me that an attempt has been made to deliver it and a card was left, neither of which is true.

What do I do next? Those of you with successful experience will know.

OP posts:
RuleBritannia · 10/01/2013 18:49

Oh, I should have added that I used their contact tool and said:

"This parcel should have been left at [postcode + number xx]. No parcel was left and no card suggesting an attempted delivery. I have been in on purpose all day.

Will you check where this important parcel is, please? Can it be delivered another day? If so, please let me know which day it will come. I would appreciate it."

I'll let you know if when I receive a reply.
