Please only comment after reading the OP, do not rtft! Grin

2 families are going to teh cinema.

It's Orange Wednesdays.

One family is 1 parent and 3 DC.

The other is 1 parent and 4 DC.

One family is providing 3 OW codes, the other 1 code.

What is the fairedt way to spilt the bill?

Adult tickets are £7.40 and DC £4.85.

If that helos.

I'd just pay my own way and let them pay theirs. That's the easiest way!

Or - whoever has 3 pass one over so there's 2 each and then both pay their own way for the rest of it. That's the kindest way.

Tee2072 · 02/01/2013 09:30

I don't know what an OW code is so I have no idea.

YesIamYourSisterInLaw · 02/01/2013 09:30

I'd just work out the overall cat for all of you and then split it half and half.
You don't have enough codes to Bogof for everyone and even so the numbers are odd so the final child would still be full price even if you did.
Anyway I'm rambling, just split the total is my answer

WipsGlitter · 02/01/2013 09:30

I don't understand how orange Wednesday works. Can you explain?

YesIamYourSisterInLaw · 02/01/2013 09:30

Cat? Cost even

DrGoogleWillSeeYouNow · 02/01/2013 09:31

I'd just pay my own way and use whatever codes I had.

Unless I had the 3 codes and I had specifically invited the other family to the cinema, then I'd split the cost down the middle.

jessjessjess · 02/01/2013 09:32

I don't think the number of codes provided should have any bearing on what you pay - who on earth is that petty?

I would probably split the whole thing 50/50 because it's frankly not worth the time spent splitting hairs over it.

YesIamYourSisterInLaw · 02/01/2013 09:32

Op you are making to many people aware of orange Wednesdays, the cinemas will become even more overrun Grin quick make up a cover story

OpenToPersuasion · 02/01/2013 09:33

Sorry. OW is but one ticket, get one free.

OP posts:
ravenousbugblatterbeast · 02/01/2013 09:36

Isn't it best to buy 1 adult, get one free, then 3 other child tickets bogof, then 1 extra child, and split the total? Am in Oz so it's wine o'clock but the only difference is a few quid? Am very jealous of OWeds though, here it's cheap(er) Tuesday where every ticket is $11 (£8?) As opposed to $18 for an adult ($12?) If I start thinking about the Kids am sessions we used to go to too I'll start to cry...

OpenToPersuasion · 02/01/2013 09:36

And the larger family has teh 3 codes if that makes a difference.

You knoe what, jessjessjess, some people are that "petty" precise over money. That was makes this an interesting Wink conundrum...

OP posts:
Pascha · 02/01/2013 09:36

Share the codes, 2 for each family and pay separately for whats left. Thats what we've done in the past.

OTOH, I wouldn't be upset if I was the one with only 1 code and a spare wasn't offered.. There's no obligation to offer it.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 02/01/2013 09:37

Each family pays for half an adult ticket and two DC.

The two adults have one OW code and pays half each for the full price ticket.

Family one has one OW code and family two 2 OW codes for the DC tickets.

spottyock · 02/01/2013 09:37

Regardless of which family brought 3 vouchers, they won't be able to use them all so share vouchers out.

If you split the bill one the family of 4 will only be out of pocket by half the extra child's ticket surely? So £2.50 ish
Similarly if the family of 5 paid for their extra child they'd lose out on the same amount. I'd just split but no biggy either way.

overmydeadbody · 02/01/2013 09:38

Each family pay for their own tickets and use their own codes.

Same as going to the cinema with adult friends. Everyone sorts themselves out with their own tickets, and uses whatever codes they have.

WipsGlitter · 02/01/2013 09:39

Probably share the codes. Or each family pay for their own and the family that has only one ticket just has to pay more.

overmydeadbody · 02/01/2013 09:40

If one of the vouchers can't be used by a family then obviously give it to the other family..

The adult tickets should be bought useing the voucher though, that makes the most dsaving doesn't it?

SantasENormaSnob · 02/01/2013 09:42

I would presume I was just paying for my lot.

I have more kids than all my friends so I always feel this is the fairest way.

BalloonSlayer · 02/01/2013 09:45

The family providing most of the OW tickets should use them for themselves and pass any they don't use to the family who is only providing one? If you have three buy one get one free tickets then there would have to be six of them to use them all, so there would be one left over. And then all pay for themselves.

ClaimedByMe · 02/01/2013 09:46

I would probably end up paying for the tickets and the popcorn, mug that I am Confused

ErikNorseman · 02/01/2013 09:47

The 5 member family can't use all 3 vouchers so should give one to the 4 member family. Then both adults should split the cost of the excess full price ticket. Basically 50% each.

Smaller family with 3 DCs and 1 OW code pays for 0.5 adults and 1.5 DCs (using their code for 2 of their DCs)
Larger family with 4DCs and 3 OW codes pays for 0.5 adults and 2 DCs (they use their 3 codes for themselves, including the adult, split with the other adult)

KobayashiMaru · 02/01/2013 09:56

I'd pay everything using all codes, and the split the remaining cost equally. They are arguing over pennies, its ridiculous.
