To wonder why I am seeing all these black eyes around?

I work in a busy department store - in the last week or so I'm convinced I have seen an unusually high number of women with black eyes. I wasn't sure until today when I saw two women in the space of an hour, one poor lady also had extensive bruising down one side of her face . . .

I am really shocked by the idea that I am seeing the results of domestic abuse (I have heard that there is more of this over Christmas?) Or could it just be that people have more accidents at this time of year due to drinking? These women did not look like the kind of people to be out on the town fighting - it is a very "nice" shop and area.

I have not seen any men with black eyes.

I don't know what the point of this post is but I feel Shock and Sad if I am right.

Not failed at all Sole, don't be daft.
Well it made me Grin anyway.
And it was me that brought up one legged men.

Round here, the last Friday before Christmas (when lots of people finish work and go on the lash) is called black eye Friday. Is that the same everywhere? Maybe they've all just been brawling.

DP narrowly avoided a black eye this week when 17mo DD nutted him.

Fwiw you don't have to be the "type" to be out fighting. A friend of mine, the most polite, timid woman you can imagine, was punched in the face by a stranger on her work Christmas party a few weeks ago. She is actually off on maternity leave at the moment and had not had a night out in a very long time. Horrible thing to happen but unfortunately not uncommon according to our mutual friend who is a nurse. Sad
