You crowd of fecking bah-humbuggers.

If you kept Christmas for December and put your decorations up at a reasonable time you would still be enjoying it now.

Instead of moaning and groaning.

Idiots.

THAT, Getorf, sounds like a PLAN! Xmas Grin

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 28/12/2012 11:09

New Years Day really IS grim.

It is like the mother of all Sunday evenings. Waah, back at work tomorrow, ironing clothes, have to get up at 6am, fucking January again etc etc.

I couldn't face a family dinner on top of that.

Boardiegirl · 28/12/2012 11:21

Some great posts on here tbf! I know the dates but i like to enjoy the tree up til the 1st, it seems like new year, new bare house i think, plus if i leave til 6th itl be a chore just before i go back to work. I have a lot if decs so it takes a while to get it all packed away! Regarding the tree i buy it around the 5th cos at £40 or so i want to get my moneys worth and cant imagine just havin it up for a coupla days!!!
Happy new yr to u all :)

ChristmasTreeSurgeon · 28/12/2012 11:22

YY to shopping on Xmas eve. This year I actually did it on purpose! Wink

As for NYE, in my home country it's traditional to make it a big party and it's all about new beginnings and how wonderful the new year will be, so that helps a very tiny little bit for the first few days of January.

Then it's really all doom and gloom Sad

thegreylady · 28/12/2012 11:24

I start putting things away on the 2nd but always leave the Nativity set and the little tree till the 6th so the Three Kings can arrive safely :-)

Pantomimedam · 28/12/2012 11:26

Agree with Mary (OP), it's no wonder some miserable feckers are itching to get Christmas over with if they put the decorations up weeks ago. Celebrate Christmas AT Christmas not four weeks beforehand!

Today is the feast of the Holy Innocents, commemorating all those first-born sons murdered by Herod, who was trying to exterminate the infant Messiah, btw. Suggestions for approporiate decorations/rituals on a postcard, please...

Feelingdetached · 28/12/2012 11:29

atwelles yes you right there, that's about sums me up. My DH is always saying live for today. I'm always planning ahead inc v. Long term.

Incidentally I have ordered winters coats for school in sales and been on to check centerparcs booking Blush already this morning.

Feelingdetached · 28/12/2012 11:30

We are not celebrating Christmas in a religious context. So I don't. Red to worry about three kings or first borns!

ChristmasTreeSurgeon · 28/12/2012 11:33

Maryz, question for you - how long would you like us to keep our Festive nn?
I kinda' miss my Brain...

RooneyMara · 28/12/2012 11:38

Our lights packed up on Christmas Eve this year. I think we overheated them on the Sunday, by having them on most of the day. Poor old lights.

So we had none on Christmas day! Anyone know how to figure out which bulb has blown the fuse?

Loshad · 28/12/2012 11:56

Agree with Mary, don't start Christmas so very early then you can enjoy having the tree etc. started my Christmas shopping mid dec, tree has only been up less than 10 days so still looks fab. It will come down on the 6th as is correct.
amused by rooneymara not being able to do washing whilst the tree is up Hmm

Feelingdetached · 28/12/2012 12:00

I think We will put up tree mid December next year.

I will not start shopping until my high street vouchers arrive that I am saving for already. I don't care what gets released in October ( grr skylanders)

JessBrodysTits · 28/12/2012 12:06

I'm already looking forward to taking them down. They feel a bit silly now Christmas is done.

NYE is the big tidy and clear up - ready for a fresh start

TeeThing2072 · 28/12/2012 12:08

Well, my husband goes back to work the second and my son back to school the third, so we might take our tree down on the first. Although I may wait until the sixth.

Not sure yet.

I did take my name off though, because a certain MNetter, who shall remain nameless Chaos called me a Tee Thing and I liked it. Although maybe I took it off before then...

Pascha · 28/12/2012 12:27

Sounds like you're teething though, Tee. I put my name on in early December, decorations up on the 16th and down again on the 26th except the wreath on the door which I will leave til after the weekend, removed my name yesterday and the only thing left is industrial quantities of chocolate.

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 28/12/2012 12:36

I'm glad to see so many people agreeing that I am not (of course) being unreasonable.

I'm ignoring the saddos people who don't agree, as they are obviously wrong and deluded.

Brian, you can name change as soon as you like - as long as it is to a cheery, new-yeary name Xmas Smile

I still think you should be BrianSturgeon

Oh, good point Pasch...

FunnysFuckingFreezing · 28/12/2012 13:11

LOL @ Mary. My tree went up on the 17th and I shouted 'It's not Christmas' at the radio from October until aprox the 22nd Dec. My tree will stay up until the 5th and I am currently enjoying the festive season

BigBaubledBertha · 28/12/2012 13:12

YANBU - the 12 days of Christmas are from 25th to 6th Jan. I do put them up a couple of days earlier than that but putting them up too far before Christmas and then taking them down the minute it gets started seems a bit Xmas Hmm to me.

And I do take them down on 2nd Jan because there is nothing left to celebrate by then.

SweetMingePie · 28/12/2012 13:17

People actually took their tree down Christmas Day? Xmas Shock why?!

I ant understand these people who queue for the sales on Boxing Day either. What a waste of a perfectly good day, we spent it lounging around playing board games, acting chocs and biscuits and a little buffet. yesterday we took the kids to the soft play to burn off some energy, but back in our pyjamas when we got in and had turkey, chips and pickles.

FunnysFuckingFreezing · 28/12/2012 13:20

btw Rooney Tis a Solsice just before Christmas tsk tsk
