Yey for best Christmas! Pleased you had a lovely day and pleased to say you're not the only one.

We have had the most relaxed, fun day ever. Just us 3. No one else over the threshold. Dinner was easy and tasty. Presents were all well received. In the name of tradition we attempted a jigsaw and are now slomped on the couch due to too much wine food.

Good times.

SoleSource · 25/12/2012 19:09

I am feeling better and enjoying telly. Xmas Grin.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/12/2012 19:11

Yay Cortana. We were just us five and my younger brother. It was fab.

Sole glad you've perked up a bit. I'm looking forward to DrWho later. We've recorded it v

We have had such a lovely day as well.

LostInWales · 25/12/2012 19:15

Just us five and DH's youngest brother Wink, he is fab and relaxed and a great uncle. Dog walk, pub with mates, loads of food. Lovely, lovely day and DH is now making me a martini so things can only get better Xmas Grin

Lovely to hear about happy Christmases.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/12/2012 19:23

I love hearing about other people's happy Christmases too. It's nice to know that all the stress, worry and organisation is worth it sometimes.

Great day!

Ex came to stay (split from ex-dh 3 years ago - he met someone else, but we've moved on and get on really well) Every christmas, he comes christmas eve, stays over on sofa bed, and stays till christmas night.

We cooked dinner, he peeled the veg, we played air hockey, silly games, ate loads, played charades (15 yr old had a strop!) watched Dr who etc - just really relaxed and fun, and the kids have been funny, engaged and happy (apart from charade-gate!)

Now ex-dh is about to go, and I can get my space back again, but it's been such a lovely day! Grin

pixwix · 25/12/2012 19:26

In fact - I'd say it's been one of the nicest christmas days we've had! Grin

glentherednosedbattleostrich · 25/12/2012 19:26

We've had a lovely one too. It was our first Christmas at home in 10 years (basically all the time we've been together). Enjoyed lunch, loved playing with DD and her toys and doing the craft bits we Santa brought.

About to start on the cheese and polish off a bottle of yummy red. Then some sloe gin for pudding Xmas Grin

JoandMax · 25/12/2012 19:32

Great one here too - DCs happy and lovely, great food, fun lead up to today....

Just have my parents staying and we've laughed so much. DS1 is in bed, DS2 just fallen asleep on me mid story. Having a gorgeous cuddle for 5 minutes before wine, cheese and more laughs!!

LostInWales · 25/12/2012 19:35

In fact DS1 (13 in a couple of weeks) got up at the end of the meal and thanked DH and I for getting everything together and cooking such a lovely meal. Actually, the world did end last week didn't it, I must have been good enough to go to heaven Wink.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/12/2012 20:03

Two youngest dcs in bed now. Happy but tired. A few tears tears from dd (9) as she came back down to earth but she's the melodramatic type. :)

Mine has been rather sad, but you know what it has made my day to hear that other people have had such lovely times. It is great. People should feel free to enjoy themselves, there are always going to be others who are having a tough time. Life is too short not to enjoy it.

Hope you all have a good Boxing day too.

whois · 25/12/2012 20:06

No YANBU

I've had an ace Christmas. Lovely family, lovely food, lovely day. Kids in bed (after a very early start!) and we're about to sit down to more food and wine. Nice to have Christmas with kids around, and we dressed the 4 month up in a Santa costume which was adorable.

Makes me grateful for having such a normal (or what should be the norm!) family.

My nephews have bunked in together to let me have a bedroom which was unexpected as I thought I was going to be on an air mat in one of the sitting rooms. Very different to the threads on here about resentful family arrangements.

tootssweet · 25/12/2012 20:35

We have had a lovely day too. Just the 4 of us (& farting dog!) The dc had a great time playing - little bit of a cock-up with the turkey but no one that upset about it. Really laid back & enjoyable - going to curl up on the sofa now with a lush cocktail & worry about clearing it all up tomorrow! Merry Christmas to you allSmile

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/12/2012 21:43

I've got red wine and chocolates. Mmmm.

Merry Christmas from me too. :)

10 of us here in a very small house but it was ace, dinner was perfect the kids all behaved themselves we had a drink or two and a couple of hours after thay all left i had a surprise visitor, my grandson (9 yrs old) popped through the door with some scrummy chocolates that he and his sister had made for me at his other nans as a thank you for today

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 25/12/2012 21:57

We had a lovely, lovely Christmas, too. Just us 3, DH, DS and me. We all loved our gifts, there were no squabbles and the food was superb (even if I say so myself). To top it off, I nodded off on the sofa and when I woe up I found that DH had washed all the dishes.

NumericalMum · 25/12/2012 22:40

A lovely one here too. No arguments and I didn't manage to burn anything at all! I even made gorgeous Yorkshire puddings :)
The children were all lovely, we were all spoilt and despite thinking it would be a sad one as DSis split with her bf last week but it was all ok and even she seemed to enjoy it. Children are great for cheering everyone up! Merry Christmas to you all!

TheCortanaThatStoleChristmas · 25/12/2012 22:43

Moisturiser, what a lovely thing to say. I'm sorry you had a sad Christmas, I hope your future celebrations are merry and happy times. Here's to 2013. Thanks

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 25/12/2012 22:46

I enjoyed mine too! Last christmas day I was a week post birth, hormones all over the shop, no sleep, worrying about a newborn (who, fair play to her slept the whole day), getting stressed at DUncle.shoving an SLR camera with a fuck.off flash in her face every ten minutes and getting cross with DM who.insisted I wake.newborn.DD so she could see her presents being opened Hmm

This year we quaffed wine, DD was able to crawl away from the camers and kept herself entertained with peas and sweetcorn and the ribbons from the presents.

Utter bliss.
