Facebook Christmas-photos of the unwrapped presents all neatly stacked up

Friend of mine just lined up about twelve very pricey items her dh bought for her. And uploaded a pic onto Facebook, with the caption 'thank you my darling hubs'.' Seriously, why would you do that? I got lots of lovely things, but won't be uploading photos of them onto social media. Am I being a Scrooge?

I hate it. Bragging is any format makes me absolutely cringe. It makes me the opposite if jealous, which I think is supposed to be the intended effect. I feel embarrassed on behalf of the person who has done the FB bragging.

I absolutely love the FB pics. I don't do them myself (I like my privacy) but it is very heartening to see people having a lovely time at Christmas. Lots of these FB people I have not seen since school. They were not high achievers but my goodness they work hard, have lovely homes and are very proud of their children. I really don't understand why anyone would be offended looking at someone else's hard earned presents or Christmas lunch. Bloody strange :-s what attracts haterz these days.

This is about the third thread about this.
I just think "Why not"?, happy people showing the gifts that gave them pleasure today.
I don't put pictures on facebook, I very rarely use it.
It does keep me in touch with family a couple of hundred miles away though, I've already seen my dn's lovely posh shoes and the pile of presents my great nephews got (with them sitting looking on in awe).
Lovely Xmas Grin

I am not offended property, bewildered maybe.

I think that people are just genuinely proud and excited by the lovely pile of attractively wrapped presents under the tree or the tasty looking lunch that took 2 hours to make. Maybe they just want to share their happiness and gratitude that their dh bought them a gift that they love. One woman I know works opposite shift patterns to her husband. They hardly see each other in order to fund a comfortable lifestyle and a roof over their dcs' heads. I was delighted to see a pic of them all looking happy today and my friend holding a brand new laptop from her dh. She is having a good day and why not share it?

Oh and I got ds17 lovely stuff this year, a fancy ipod dock and Hollister and Superdry clothes.
He's not mentioned any of them on facebook at all, just the cheap stocking filler which was a 'Grow your own Jesus'.
He's had 14 likes.Xmas Confused
(I am repeating myself here I think, I'm sure I mentioned this on another thread).
Fuck, it's Christmas, drink may have been partaken.

SquinkiesRule · 26/12/2012 03:54

My facebook news feed has shown a lot of engagement rings and other jewels, none of which belong to me.
I got chocolates and slippers and my Mum mailed me a shoebox filled with sweets I miss from UK, best pressy ever.

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 26/12/2012 04:57

threesypeesy · 26/12/2012 09:03

I post these pics and theres nothing missing im my life, what asilly comment to make that you can presume someone has problems due to a picture ...... What utter rubbish

also hate the comment if you buy loads its cheap tat!!!!! says who?..... Sad people judge just because people do thins differently

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 26/12/2012 09:26

I think it does depend on the context and on the people posting tbf.

One of my FB friends got engaged yesterday, another 2 have new babies and the sharing of Christmas pics etc can be lovely, but I'm pretty sure we all know one or two people who do do it simply to show off.

It's not worth ruining your own Christmas worrying about it mind you.

TandB · 26/12/2012 09:35

If I post pictures of DS1's unwrapped presents on Facebook people will assume that Buzz Lightyear and Lightning McQueen came and vomited in our front room.

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2012 11:12

The 13 year olds on DS1's FB are definitely doing it to show off. And I wouldn't be surprised if their parents suggested it TBH. Sorry. Sad

MurderOfGoths · 26/12/2012 11:14

I've just spent a lovely time looking through my friends photos of all their xmas presents, it's lovely to see. I can just picture their kids excitement. :)

insancerre · 26/12/2012 11:27

DD 16 posted a pic of one of her presents on christmas morning. The drinking straw that is a pair of glasses from the 99p shop. She is wearing them to drink her bucks fizz as we open presents.
Now that's a good fb photo Grin

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2012 11:30

That's the sort of picture I like insancerre. Never seen so many pairs of £££ trainers, I phone 5s, 3D TVs etc. Grin
