I got a banana holder so that when I got given it, it would look like a penis.

Some people are so droll Xmas Hmm.

I think the tea was thoughtful so YABU

notactuallyme · 21/12/2012 17:05

I hate secret santa, as I am really crap socially and so its just another way of finding out people hate me Grin one year I got some awful joke book called you know you're past it or something full of old people shagging. I was, what, 35?

Mandy2003 · 21/12/2012 17:07

DS bought a naice gift from Hawkins Bazaar for £5.00.

He received a 99p bag of StarMix. Xmas Hmm

cuteboots · 21/12/2012 17:09

notactuallyme- Im sorry Im trying not to laugh at the book you got . Im sure they dont hate you but I think we just dont spend time getting to know some people we work with so that explains the random presents. Did you keep the book?

foslady · 21/12/2012 17:10

One year we had a 'put it in the box and pick a random one out'

Guess which no-man-on-the-horizon-non-smoker got the 10 ciggies and the pack of condoms........

YouCanBe · 21/12/2012 17:11

I would feel quite satisfied with a box of posh tea bags for Christmas from my husband or mum! From Secret Santa I would be really happy.

cuteboots · 21/12/2012 17:13

foslady- Im quite amazed I didnt get a pressie like that as Im sure they all think Im a lesbian here! Ha ha ha (Im not by the way)

I like Secret Santa if people go to some effort to find quite random things that they think might appeal to the recipient. There's nothing so boring as a Secret Santa sack full of chocolates and wine. I think it sounds like someone thought that you would like this, even if that's not teh case and they were passing on an unwanted gift try to believe it, it will make you feel better.

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 21/12/2012 17:17

My dh got a wanking aid from Ann summers. He walked through the door, gave it to me and just said "this is bloody disgusting". It was one you actually insert your penis into and the inside is supposed to feel like a vagina.

I took it apart to see what the inside was like then the whole lot went in the bin.

RacHoHoHog · 21/12/2012 17:18

I would like the tea!

I got a really ugly bead braclet one year but usually get smellys which is nice

cuteboots · 21/12/2012 17:23

SantasHugandRollintheSnow- OMG! Who would really buy that as a secret santa present!

OP posts:
QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 21/12/2012 17:23

I'm not keen on the tea :O but we will do a swap thread after Cmas :D

Pontouf · 21/12/2012 17:25

I have always had really nice SS pressies. My husband works with mainly men and they did Secret Santa one year. DH received a DVD of Superman Three, a top contender for the worst film ever made. We watched half an hour to give it a chance and then gave it to charity. His was one of the better presents. One bloke got a ten pack of AA batteries.

Casualty · 21/12/2012 17:27

I would have loved teabags the year I got scented drawer liners. Scented drawer liners, I ask you.

Impatientwino · 21/12/2012 17:55

I'm on maternity leave ATM with an extremely high maintenance 5 month old and managed to find time to get a nice personalised gift for the bloke I got assigned.

I got a joke square mug and a fucking yoyo

To add insult to injury they weren't even wrapped up - they were inside a scrunched up paper bag!

Assholes!

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 21/12/2012 18:08

cute was one of the young single guys trying to be funny. Ha bloody ha.

FreePeaceSweet · 21/12/2012 18:12

dh came home yesterday with his gift. It was a gift bag with Jeremy Beadles autobiography, a "Respectable Looking Jewish Men" calendar and a cowboy set for kids. He loved it!

earthpixie · 21/12/2012 18:29

Count yourselves lucky. Our secret santa involves SIX gifts: food, drink, reading matter, useful, funny and 'nice'. It's fun but a bit of a faff!

asleb · 21/12/2012 18:40

I got given 5 lines on a lottery ticket once. I guess if I'd have won it would have been great but it was just so "grabbed from the petrol station on the way to work because I couldn't be bothered/forgot". Thanks!

FamiliesShareGerms · 21/12/2012 18:47

YABU - Williamsons tea is lovely, and ethical. And if you do actually drink tea, you'll at least use them. Unlike the Secret Santa I got this year, which was a diary suitable for a very old person (not kitsch, just old fashioned)
