to think that Huggies should keep selling nappies in the UK?

Why are they going to stop selling nappies in the UK and Ireland? Its just going to make other brands more expensive.

No its not. It's a business decision, just buy something else.

Gillyweed001 · 21/12/2012 10:15

Its because they aren't selling in the uk....

KatAndKit · 21/12/2012 10:20

Probably because most of us have realised we can save £££ by buying supermarket own brands instead. Unless you buy Pampers instead when Huggies are gone, nappies are not going to be more expensive for you. Asda, Tesco and Aldi nappies are all very good value for money.

Fillybuster · 21/12/2012 10:22

Are they? None of the other brands ever fitted my dcs as well as Huggies.

Mytimewillcome · 21/12/2012 10:24

I'm just very surprised. I thought they and Pampers were the main selling brands. I've tried Sainsburys and Boots own brand and they both leaked so had to go to Huggies.

They have lost market share to the supermarkets according to the article I read about it. Pampers have pretty much held their market share but Huggies has fallen below what Kimberley Clark expect for any product so they are pulling them.

I used to like Huggies, they were always in massive boxes in Costco and really cheap.

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 21/12/2012 10:39

We hated huggies, they were awful for DS and leaked that vile mustard-like poo up his back to his neck... Urghhhh So good bye and good riddance!

Xmas Wink

I would suggest you bulk order some from Amazon or similar to stock up and in the meantime start trying other brands. You will find one that works I'm sure.

SantaWearsGreen · 21/12/2012 10:44

Surprised by this, I always asumed huggies and pampers were the best and the most bought. I don't know much, I use reusables but I just always thought huggies and pampers were well loved 'reliable' brands.. Weird.

cuteboots · 21/12/2012 10:46

I always found that they leaked and were just awful .

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 21/12/2012 10:49

Too expensive compared with supermarket brands. Lots of people have bought a cheaper supermarket nappy when necessary and found out to their surprise that there is very little difference in quality to Pampers/Huggies/Whatever. Some of them are very very good.

SwitchedtoEatingCheese · 21/12/2012 10:53

I'd recommend the Tesco value nappies. The are £1.50 odd for 20. They used to be like plastic bags but now are exactly the same as the more expensive tesco own brand ones.

Allonsy · 21/12/2012 10:55

Huh when is this happening? ive always used huggies, pampers are horrible horrible nappies.

MistletoeAndVino · 21/12/2012 10:56

Think this is what I read about it:

Kimberly-Clark has been trying to crack the Western European diaper market with its Huggies brand for more than 20 years, but it has faced tough competition from Procter & Gamble Co, whose Pampers diapers control a commanding 44% of the category, according to Euromonitor International Inc. Huggies, with a 12% share, even trails private-label diaper brands in terms of size, putting them at a further disadvantage in trying to secure shelf space.

ThePoppyAndTheIvy · 21/12/2012 11:00

Huggies are rubbish for DD. She may aswell not wear a nappy they are that leaky!

I'd assumed they weren't selling because they are shit (no pun intended) Xmas Grin.

Lidl or Aldi nappies are the way to go!

LaCiccolina · 21/12/2012 11:03

Huggies wipes are bottom marvellous!!!

Huggies nappies were awful. Unsurprised being cancelled.

MistletoeAndVino · 21/12/2012 11:06

I don't like Asda Comfort Dry, they feel cheap and the filling in the nappy seems to separate and bunch up into clumps after it has been on for an hour or so which doesn't look too comfy.

I don't like the Pampers ActiveFit, Tesco SuperFit or the Adsa Action Fit, I find they leak easily. They have made them thinner but I'd rather a thicker nappy that doesn't leak.

I think the Tesco UltraDry and the Aldi Mamia nappeis are excellent, the Aldi ones are my favouite and they are good value too.

Theicingontop · 21/12/2012 11:07

Tesco ultradry are brilliant, and always worked as well as huggies for my son. For about half the price too.

podgymumma · 21/12/2012 11:44

Huggies make the Asda and Tesco ones! I used to work for KC Xmas Smile

Kayano · 21/12/2012 12:05

I'm unconcerned because I don't like the bairns clothes covered in Shit. which is all huggies are good for

Picturesinthefirelight · 21/12/2012 12:07

I think it depends on the child. Higgins were brilliant for dd but rubbish for ds who had to have pampers.

Pampers were awful on dd though.

Merrycuckingfistmas · 21/12/2012 12:13

Because Huggins are shit! Every nappy I have used has leaked

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 21/12/2012 12:16

Are they still going to be selling the wipes?

neriberi · 21/12/2012 12:16

These were the only nappies that fitted my DS when he was born, now we just use Tesco's own brand which do the job at a fraction of the cost.

Panzee · 21/12/2012 12:23

Huggies are the only nappies that fitted my son, all the others leaked really quickly. I'm expecting another in feb and am not happy that this is happening. :(
