to think that Huggies should keep selling nappies in the UK?

Why are they going to stop selling nappies in the UK and Ireland? Its just going to make other brands more expensive.

If they are making "store own brand" they are competing with themselves. Maybe there is more profit from being a manufacturer of Own Brand rather than marketing their own.

shayshaysmum · 21/12/2012 12:35

Don't panic Suzy, huggies wipes and swim nappies are still going to be sold.
I love huggies wipes, they are much thicker, nicer smelling and they are always on £1 special everywhere!
Pampers wipes always remind of poo, even I'm not changing a pooey bum : /

shayshaysmum · 21/12/2012 12:36
  • somewhere, not everywhere!
shayshaysmum · 21/12/2012 12:37
  • if I'm changing, ffs!
shayshaysmum · 21/12/2012 12:38
  • even if I'm not changing, last time I promise..
HECTheHallsWithRowsAndFolly · 21/12/2012 12:38

I found huggies dreadful. They gave both of mine the most awful nappy rash. Bleeding bums, the lot. Tried them more than once, thinking it may be coincidence.

It wasn't.

if they're not making money on them (or enough money on them!) they're going to stop. It does not make business sense to carry on.

SarahWarahWoo · 21/12/2012 12:38

Huggies always leak, happy that they are going but do like the wipes

TheKnightsWhoSayNi · 21/12/2012 12:46

I find the supermarket own brands are only slightly cheaper than Huggies and don't last as long. (Honestly, I'm not a snob though I buy mostly supermarket own stuff).

But different babies react better to different nappies. DS1 would react badly too anything but Huggies. For DD1, the Tesco one fitted her better. For DD2, we're back to Huggies best. I think we'll use Aldi one's now. They're at least cheaper and it won't be long before she's out of them anyway.

Spuddybean · 21/12/2012 13:10

i can't believe anyone likes huggies. every single one leaked. everyone in all my baby groups hates them and we all threw ours away - we couldn't give them away!

we were musing about how they could possibly still be in business just last week.

I like tescos or pampers best.

CruCru · 21/12/2012 14:28

Argh! This is terrible.

DragonMamma · 21/12/2012 14:29

^ I agree.

Bloody terrible things, leaky and give both of mine nappy rash.

I liked Tesco Ultra Dry for DD and DS is a Pampers boy although Tesco were fine up to size 6 but they are completely different to the smaller sizes and are cheap and leak so badly he went through 4 changes of clothes in a day when we've never needed to with pampers.

I won't miss Huggies, at all.

I really don't care. Expecting number five dc and have always just used whats on offer with no prob with any of them.

Always hated the naff disney characters though.

pigletmania · 21/12/2012 15:04

Huggies are crap always leaking, pamers simple much better

rogersmellyonthetelly · 21/12/2012 16:20

Pampers leaked like chuff on ds, so we bought Huggies. Huggies leaked like chuff on dd so we bought pampers. I much prefer their wipes to the pampers ones, which are too thin IMO and I always end up with shit on my fingers!

SmileyPenguin · 21/12/2012 16:28

Pampers are good but exppensive. Sainsbury brand are very good. Huggies are awful!!

nickelbabylyinginamanger · 21/12/2012 16:29

i agree its an odd decision.

we have cloth so it doesn't matter to us.

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 21/12/2012 16:49

I'm just glad someone has said they're still selling the wipes, they're brilliant for cleaning all sorts of things (pampers wipes just foam up and go slimy)! Grin

sweetkitty · 21/12/2012 17:04

Always used Tescos own label here, I found them much better than Huggies or Pampers.

Vagaceratops · 21/12/2012 17:05

Huggies are rubbish, as are their wipes.

nickelbabylyinginamanger · 21/12/2012 17:12

oh yes, huggies wipes are crap - they fall apart by being breathed on. I fight to get them out of the pack in one 50 pieces piece.

nickelbabylyinginamanger · 21/12/2012 17:12

we use Aldi wipes - they're the best we've found

EdgarAllanPond · 21/12/2012 17:13

We use Huggies and very upset about this. I have only ever bought them while on offer and never found them more expensive than the supermarket brands. Boots and Sainsburys are the most comparable imo however. Only used them since dd was past 1 so never get full enough to leak anymore.
