Fuckers.

Apparently they delivered my Amazon parcel yesterday. It says so on my Amazon tracking thingy. Except they fucking well did not.

Why does Amazon use them? Why does anyone use them? Fuckers.

YANBU - they are fuckers - I HATE THEM TOO

complain to Amazon

apostrophethesnowman · 19/12/2012 21:19

YANBU They're the worst couriers ever. They truly are. I was tearing my hair out with them last year.

They are know to lie rather than admit they've not delivered something. I apparently had a parcel left in my non-existent porch. Good trick if you can do it!

They should have a signature if it was delivered surely. Contact Amazon and complain!

Rhinestone · 19/12/2012 21:21

According to the AMazon website it is my job to chase them up.

I fucking hate them and hope they all poo their pants during their Christmas dinner in front of their in laws.

Are they hidden somewhere? They have a great habit of hiding my parcels around my house.

Although today they've reached new levels. My parcel was due between 7am and midday yesterday. Then yesterday afternoon, because they were running late. And then definitely today, between 7am and 8pm. So I stayed in all day, and guess what? It didn't come!

At 8pm the drivers were working until 9pm, and it would be here. At 9pm, they might work until 10pm, although they don't get paid past 9pm. He doesn't know where my parcel is. It might come tomorrow, but it might not.

Why is it always the most important parcel, too?!

scissy · 19/12/2012 21:23

YANBU. Did they throw it over your (8ft) garden wall? That's what they did with our last delivery Hmm Or even better, leave it in the recycling bin on bin day? Worst couriers I have EVER had to deal with.

exexpat · 19/12/2012 21:23

You are not alone. Have you checked bins, bushes, sheds, under your car, neighbours, the rest of the street, any similar sounding street names within a few miles...

apostrophethesnowman · 19/12/2012 21:25

Oh just had a thought...one of mine last year was put under a garden bench. Thankfully the pissing rain didn't get it too wet.

plonko · 19/12/2012 21:28

They apparently left something from amazon (sisters christmas present) in a safe place for me on Saturday at 5pm. Delivery address was a shop that is open until 7pm Xmas Hmm.

I contacted amazon explaining how it clearly hasn't been delivered, need it by Sunday etc and they said if it hasn't turned up by Friday they will send a new package! Amazing! I just hope they don't use yodel again.

Lora1982 · 19/12/2012 21:34

The company i work for uses them too... I really dont know why. It must purely be cost cos they are crap and the complaints i here are rediculous sometimes. I know they are considering going back to hdnl and trackable 2nd class though so complain all you can it should get heard if you loud enough.

RedTinsel · 19/12/2012 21:36

Check the bins they always put them in there.

LittlePickleHead · 19/12/2012 21:38

Yes they are cunts. They left a delivery of a very expensive cloth bound book (Christmas present) in a cardboard wrapping, leant against my front door in torrential rain today. Thanks for that... Especially as I spent £6 on delivery assuming it would at least be signed for Angry

TheSkiingGardener · 19/12/2012 21:41

They are a shitty, shitty company that give their drivers little choi e but to do a shitty job.

I hope all their management have a crap Christmas.

MsElleTow · 19/12/2012 21:42

My Yodel delivery man is excellent.

He, also, told me a couple of weeks ago that Amazon told them they aren't allowed to leave the parcels 'somewhere safe anymore'!

I would contact Amazon if I were you, they helped me when I had a similar issue with City Link.

plonko · 19/12/2012 21:44

Oh, they also left a kiddy vtech laptop thing under an upturned box on my friends front garden on a very, very rough estate last year. She had no clue it was there, and even ordered a replacement.

Part of my job involves arranging deliveries of goods and we aren't allowed to leave items without express permission. We always leave a note to say where we left it too, so how can yodel leave things lying around like this?! Aaaaaaargh !

whats4teamum · 19/12/2012 21:46

I had exactly the same scenario as you OP.

I made went through amazon website , made them call me and they were most helpful. Apologised profusely and said they accepted full responsiblity for non delivery. Item arrived later that day and HDNL driver gave me oh this is my first day on this route blah I'd blah.

The thing I hate about yodel/hdnl is they will not entertain speaking to you unless you have number on card pushed through door but they don't put the fucker through the door.

Amazon called me the next day to check I had received order. Your contract is with amazon and not with hdnl/yodel. Don't know why amazon use them. DPD, ups and city link all manage to deliver parcels without hassle.

JollyOldChristmas · 19/12/2012 21:49

Yodel left an iPhone on my neighbour's front doorstep. Not hidden in any way at all.

I prefer royal mail. Our postie is lovely.

Rhinestone · 19/12/2012 21:50

It was Amazon Prime as well so was 'guaranteed' to be delivered yesterday.

Have spoken to Amazon who are refunding me in full and re-sending my order. Told me they'd had lots of complaints about Yodel.

Anyone here senior at Amazon who can explain why the fuck you use such a useless company?

OP posts:
HoHoHoMoreBaubles · 19/12/2012 21:52

The company I used to work for used them exclusively and they were just awful!Angry

I used to hear some unbelievable stories! One lady called in absolutely raging as she had just witnessed the delivery driver post a card through her door after not knocking and then kick her parcel over next doors fence!ShockShock it was an electrical item and was smashed to smithereens! We had to replace and refund as she was so angry and distressed! I checked the returns log the following week and it was unrepairable!Angry they are abysmal

ginmakesitallok · 19/12/2012 21:53

MsElletow - wouldn't surprise me if Amazon have told them not to leave stuff "in a safe place" - given Yodel's interpretation of a "safe place". I very much doubt amazon meant "Don't leave it in a safe place, just leave it in a random place..."

hohoho that's appalling!

pigsinmud · 19/12/2012 22:04

Actually I have never had a problem with Yodel - lovely delivery driver. City Link & DPD are good too. Ups .....terrible - I renamed them Useless Pile of Shite in the summer. They kept sending me emails saying they couldn't find my house as the address was missing a house number. I repeatedly told them my house doesn't have a number, just a name. Fast forward a few months and another parcel coming with them - same problem.

exexpat · 19/12/2012 22:06

I am amazed anyone still uses Yodel. Lots of companies have dropped them but Amazon still uses them - I presume they have run the figures and worked out that even with all the orders they have to replace due to Yodel's incompetence, it is still worth their while using them rather than a more expensive courier.

I have heard the drivers do such a shoddy job because they are given impossible targets in terms of parcels to deliver each day, and heavily penalised if they bring any parcels back to the depot.

Having said all that, I have had several years of Yodel horror stories, but in my area they have just started using a chap who lives round the corner and delivers everything using a bicycle trailer, and so far he seems to be doing a good job.

Saltire · 19/12/2012 22:08

DX Secure are shite too.
They claimed that they had tried to deliver a parcel to me but "no one was in to sign for it".
Except I live on a military base, so every single visitor, be they couriers, sky engineers, postie etc have to book in at guardroom, stating the house number they are going to.
Guardroom had no record of them.
Then they tried to claim they couldn't deliver because, and I quote " well mrs Saltire, every single road in and out of your village is closed due to flooding so we couldn't deliver"

my response "hang on, here's my tesco delivery driver, he got through, do you think he came by helicopeter and landed in a field"

PartridgeInASpicyPearTree · 19/12/2012 22:11

YANBU. The worst I've had is leaving a parcel with my neighbour and no card, but yesterday I saw two Amazon parcels left propped against the door of a flat next to my nearest Sainsbury's Local. This is on an A road that is a major route into central London, about 5 mins from the tube with lots of pedestrians at all hours. I wonder how long they lasted...
