To ask you when you get paid this month?

I am always paid early in December. It makes January very long, but with the expense of Christmas, it's always welcome. I am usually paid on the last working day of the month. So when will I be paid this month? I'm not prepared to ask anyone in my work because I don't want to flag up the fact that I cannot budget and am skint. (Don't worry, I am not penniless. I have an overdraft that I could go into if desperate - I just really try to avoid that.)

fri 21st but thats the normal day for us....there is some good things about getting paid every 4 weeks

PowderMum · 19/12/2012 07:06

Payroll Dept here, we are paying early this year (Friday) and have communicated this to all employees so they know

Chottie · 19/12/2012 07:08

Early this month on the 20th. We get a message saying we will be paid earlier this month, otherwise we get paid on 27th of each month.

If your company is paying early, won't they let you know?

DorsetKnobwithJingleBellsOn · 19/12/2012 07:08

Friday, would prefer it a week later.

MackerelOfFact · 19/12/2012 07:12

It's usually the last working day of the month. Our offices are closed between Christmas and New Year so I'm praying we get paid at the end of this week, else New Year and the sales are going to be a bit of an anticlimax. I will have to check with payroll, actually.

Lizzylou · 19/12/2012 07:16

24th here, normally it is last Thursday of every month. January will be a long frugal month for me.

OddBoots · 19/12/2012 07:17

31st, no change to normal.

Flossiechops · 19/12/2012 07:17

Nhs worker, get paid Friday instead of the 25th Smile

MammaTJ · 19/12/2012 07:25

Normally on the 20th but got paid yesterday. DP normally gets paid three days before the end of the month but will get paid on Friday. January will be looooooong.

ChocolatesSnowAngel · 19/12/2012 07:41

it's normally the penultimate day but for December and January we get paid a week early, which means February is a loooong month. Tomorrow couldn't come quick enough!!

ginmakesitallok · 19/12/2012 07:43

Normally last Thurs of the month - but 21st December - makes January a LOOOOONNNNGGG month

SullenCrescent · 19/12/2012 07:49

I usually get paid on the 27th but they have brought it forward to 21st.

Dh gets paid on 21st, but does every month anyway so no change. The company founders' wives insisted on it because of Christmas and thanksgiving (American co). They also insisted that the year end is the end of October so their husbands would be more available at this time of year. I love those ladies!

BigShinyBaubles · 19/12/2012 07:55

Both myself and OH get paid four weekly. 21st Dec is our next one.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 19/12/2012 07:56

I usually get paid on the 28th, this month I get paid on the 21st.

Kinora · 19/12/2012 07:59

I get paid on 28th.

I get paid every 4 weeks and this month is my mortgage free month Smile ( as my mortgage isn't due until after my January pay day)

Lesbeadiva · 19/12/2012 08:04

Today...six week month ahead. Not good!

dishwashervodkaanddietirnbru · 19/12/2012 08:06

Dh normally gets paid the last working day of the month but will get paid on 24th this month so Christmas eve.

Autumnchill · 19/12/2012 08:10

Both getting paid on 21st instead of 25th and 27th. Going to be a tight month but we've decided between Christmas Eve and NYE we are going to have an austerity week with no spending in the sales etc. we don't need anything and will have plenty of food in. We are going to fill our time with clearing out the garage and getting out and getting some exercise. Quite looking forward to seeing how little we can spend!

DontmindifIdo · 19/12/2012 08:10

just ask! It's not going to make you look like you can't budget, rather the opposite, that you are trying to budget.

We normally get paid on or the nearest working day to 25th, that therefore should mean that we'd be paid on 24th, but we were paid on 14th (yes, January is a very, very long month)

marriedandwreathedinholly · 19/12/2012 08:11

21st December. DH has to rely on people paying him.

bluecarrot · 19/12/2012 08:24

Do you get paid for less than a full month in December then? I don't understand why it makes it a long month?!

My last employer paid full months wage on around 14th dec. employer before that paid half before Christmas and half + any bonuses at the regular payment date ( last working day of month)
