DD's 16th birthday today and it's a school day so to make it extra special I ordered flowers, chocolates and 'Happy Birthday' balloon to be delivered to her at school. I checked with the school and they said they would get her when they were delivered.

I specifically requested that they be delivered before 2pm or in the morning preferably as it was being delivered to school and they obviously finish at 3pm. I was told that a note would be on the order requesting this and it should not be a problem. You can only contact them by email as their phone line keeps you on hold for over 30 mins and I have given up as it's an 0844 rip off number.

So I have just picked DD up, no flowers delivered. Tried ringing again and still can't get through so sent an email requesting that they deliver to our home address as DD is not now at school and it is shut. If they leave a note for redelivery she won't get it until Monday. They have said that they will not change the delivery address or refund and we will have to wait for it to be redelivered next week Flowers will be bloody dead! They will not refund as they have until 7pm to deliver even though I have informed them that the school will be shut.

i am fucking furious!!! £40 spent on a surprise which DD did not get!! GRRRRRRR!

Yabu to consider using a website that uses YODEL to deliver flowers.

ThePoppyAndTheIvy · 14/12/2012 17:03

YANBU to expect to get what you paid for. If they said they would deliver before 2pm then you have a right to expect that they will.

It doesn't really matter a jot whether people agree with the OP's idea of sending her DD flowers at school - if she had been sending her mum (for example) flowers to her home but stated that the recipient would only be there until 2pm it would have been no different. If the company couldn't deliver by the time requested then they shouldn't have accepted the order.

I hope you get your money back OP.

StuffezLaBouche · 14/12/2012 17:10

Are you sure they didn't get to school but school didn't pass them on to DD?

IneedAsockamnesty · 14/12/2012 17:24

Haven't this company been on watchdog?

JambalayaWarmMincePie · 14/12/2012 17:29

Yes!

LynetteScavo · 14/12/2012 17:35

Well, the school thing is a bit odd IMO, but lets ignore that.

Lets say the DD worked in the school office until 3pm, or any office for that matter. If you were told the flowers would be delivered before 3pm, they should have been.

Changeforthrday · 14/12/2012 17:41

They said they'd deliver by 2 and failed to do so, so they should either refund or deliver them to your home or deliver a fresh bouquet on Monday. Is your school open next week?

sockmuppet · 14/12/2012 17:44

I am another one who thinks it's a bit odd to send them to school. Sorry!

ENormaSnob · 14/12/2012 17:46

Yanbu

Can you recoup money from credit card/debit card/PayPal?

jinglebellyalltheway · 14/12/2012 17:48

i'd have hated it when I was in school! and I wasn't shy or anything!, (dito delivered to work) but obviously the company was unreasonable

BattlingFanjos · 14/12/2012 17:49

Think the whole send them to school of not argument is invalid as it's not the question the OP asked. They agreed to sending them to the school, agreed to do it before 2pm, didn't do it and charged you £40 for the privilege. YANBU I would complain (via e-mail obviously) and never use them again!
