I saw a thing years ago (which I can't find for the life of me now) about how much people would have to earn to own the houses they do if Eastenders was real.

The jobs and the homes they have are ALL completely out of kilter with reality. I think there was about one character that would have been able to afford their home.

It really pisses me off when the writers whitewash out a crucial and well known part of British life i.e that we have a welfare state. Another poster also mentioned that Heather had to hold down three jobs just to pay the rent despite being a single parent and being entitled to childcare, WTC, housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support if she didn't or couldn't work.

Also, Max is Lauren's Dad, Tanya was childless before she met him. Lauren being Derek's was mooted as a storyline but I don't know if they're going to do it. or not.

And yes Jacqueline Jossa who plays Lauren is stunningly beautiful!

That "young people fall in love, find out they have the same dad" storyline was done in Hollyoaks a few years ago so I'd be surprised if it's recycled by Eastenders. I hope not, Derek already makes my skin crawl

YY to Fatboy. When he first started I found him so irritating with his street speak (old gimmer) but he is one of my favourite characters now. That says a lot about the actor as well as the writing.

mycat-it's funny how soaps often have similar storylines going on at the same time.

I don't think it's planned that way, but there are only so many storylines to go round and sometimes they end up in sync.

Example- Corrie and Enders are both having Christmas Day weddings that will (obviously) go horribly wrong!

I've just read on digital spy that the actors that play Tyler and Lauren are a real life couple. I didn't know that
