2 days ago I lost/misplaced 3 rings, my engagement ring, my wedding ring and a ring passed onto me from my grandma that was made with my mums ashes.
I usually wear all 3 but due to health problems my fingers have been sore so have been taking them off indoors, I haven't been anywhere so they must be here somewhere.
I have pulled the whole place apart, my gran died earlier in the year and gave me the ashes ring, I feel terrible, I can't stop crying, I literally feel like I must be being punished, I am tired of bad stuff happening, I feel sick. Do I need to "get over it" I am going from rationally thinking they can't have disappeared to thinking they must have.
A lot has happened this year, my gran was diagnosed with cancer and had died within 6 weeks then I suffered a miscarriage, I felt like I was coming through the other side after a tough time and a long history of depression, now I feel a mess.

This has probably gone on far too long but even if noone reads it, it felt good to get it down, and thanks to anyone who does manage to read it.

Now back to searching!

It's a Christmas miracle! Xmas Grin

So glad you found them.

Bicarb of soda neutralises smells. Make up a paste and daub it on, leave for a bit and rinse off - carefully, you don't want them going down the sink now!

DameFannyGallopsBEHINDyou · 09/12/2012 11:11

Rinse them in lemon juice if the stones aren't porous? Coffee also could be good?

And well done Xmas Grin

WhereTheWildOnesSnow · 09/12/2012 11:11

Thanks oldbat will try that later. For now I just want to wear them, (don't know if I dare take them off again) and I can handle the smell for a little while.

Ask your Gran - it works for me.

l once lost a ring that l had bought myself from my brothers money he left me.

l was very upset too and l said to him out loud 'Please, tell me where it is and l will never lose it again'. Seconds later l looked where l had already looked several times and there it was and it glinted in the sun as l picked it up. l said 'thank you DBrosname'

Different l know but l was once on holiday in Ireland and tried to find my grans grave in a huge cemetary and put flowers on it.
I hadnt been for years but was convinced l would just walk to it straight away but l had somehow remembered it wrongly and l was looking in the wrong section completely.

Again l said out loud to my Gran 'Gran where are you , please, tell me where you are' . Nothing Sad so as l turned to walk out of the cemetary and put the flowers on an unmarked grave, l went over on my boot heel and as l straightened up found myself looking straight at her name (on the opposite side to where l had been looking). Smile

Ooooh fantastic - sorry xposts. So pleased for you, it is a horrible sick feeling when you lose something that connects you to someone you've lost. Look after them now and look after yourself, take this as a sign that things can and will get better for you and someone is looking out for you (have got your dear gran in the frame as the most likely Grin).

xx

Excellent news!!

Lemon always gets rid of garlic smell, I use it on my hands after handling garlic. No amount of soap works compared,

KatieSantaPawskitty · 09/12/2012 11:54

So glad you found them, I completely understand your anguish.

I'm a bugger for losing things. Once a necklace I'd lost and given up on turned up in a curtain.

Top tip for future reference: turn off all the lights and shine a torch, it's great for locating shiny lost things. Only if they're not in a bin bag! Smile

Lavenderhoney · 09/12/2012 12:47

Thanks everyone. The garlic smell seems to have gone now (but I have washed up 3 times and had a shower and washed DDs hair so think that helped).

Try the sink and shower waste pipes too - they often have some secrets in their U bend...
