to be pissed off by great hulking restocking cages blocking supermarket aisles when the shop is really busy

You want something and there are 3 of those great big cages blocking the way. So you go and shove the cage out of the way and someone scampers over and hauls it back because they want to get past.

It's bloody infuriating. I don't mind if it is in the middle of the night or whatever but surely they shouldn't block the aisles with these things in the day.

Grumble grumble.

Yanbu

OddBoots · 01/12/2012 22:21

I'm torn with that one as they are annoying but I would rather that than have to wait until they'd re-stocked overnight o get what I want. If things are selling fast because the shop is busy then they need to be replenished quickly too.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 01/12/2012 22:21

Yanbu. The worst is when youare made to feel badforweaving around the shop employee to reach what you want. Mostly they are nice about it but every so often youend up feeling like a thief for trying to buy stuff.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 01/12/2012 22:22

Yanbu. I've stopped going in our small Tescos because their aisles are always clogged with stuff.

Aldi much more space.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/12/2012 22:24

YABU - products will run out in the day time, particularly when it's busy. That's how it works in a supermarket.

Perhaps try moving them/asking the member of staff to move them not "shoving" them in an obnoxious manner.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 01/12/2012 22:25

When I worked in retail we werent allowed to have delivery stock on the shop floor at certain times and on certain days.

My local supermarket could do with implementing that!

They restock on a saturday. Just do a night shift on fri night fgs. Angry

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 01/12/2012 22:29

Oh FGS why the hell can't I grumble mildly about something which inconveniences me slightly without some arsehat coming on and calling me obnoxious?

I am not "shoving" them in anger, I am "shoving" them because they weigh a bloody tonne.

They don't always have a person there, they sometimes sit there abandoned, like icebergs.

It is 24 hour opening I think - they can't re-stock and face-up over night. I'm sick of having to get on my hands and knees to reach stock from the back of the shelves, having worked in a shop that was obsessive about facing-up.

reddaisy · 01/12/2012 22:31

YANBU.

MrsChristmasVamos · 01/12/2012 22:32

Gets

Thought you was going to the meet up, mate ?

I think they have loads of stock to get out at the mo, and are completely unreasonable leaving cages in the middle of aisles. I bet there's a H+S thingy somewhere...did you hurt yourself moving it ? Xmas Wink

I am here if you wanna moan. Xmas Grin

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 01/12/2012 22:33

Sainsburys here had run out of ready roll icing and marzipan today. Where's their bloody restocking trolley when I really needed it in eh? Stuck in the cheese section, that's where it was.

Glitterknickaz · 01/12/2012 22:33

Irritating

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 01/12/2012 22:33

One day I'll make it to a meet up.....

ouryve · 01/12/2012 22:35

YANBU

One thing I actually do like about our local Tesceurgh (and generally i hate the place) is that when they extended it, they built little spaces in the shelves to slot those trolleys into, so they didn't need to block an entire aisle to restock at busy times.

EdgarAllanPond · 01/12/2012 22:35

YABU

empty aisles or empty shelves - your choice.

in the run up to Xmas the shelves just don't carry a full days worth of stock.

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 01/12/2012 22:35

I was going mrsvam, but my FIL died last week so the funeral was yesterday. I knew I wouldn't feel up to it so bowed out this week.

I think it is only Tesco with the cages, come to think of it. My local Asda does it as well, but at unsocial hours, which is better than doing it on a Saturday afternoon 3 weeks before Chrostmas I suppose.

I know that they have to restock. But those great hulkig=ng cages are still annoying.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 01/12/2012 22:36

YANBU. Between them, and the shop staff picking online shopping (can they not do that from the stock out the back?) - and the people having a conversation in the aisles parking their trolleys opposite each other, and the people who have to examine every single potato, and the ditherers, and the families who all come when it would be much more sensible for one of the adults to stay at home with the children.....and breathe.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 01/12/2012 22:37

Sorry about your FIL getorf.

It's those Internet shopping trolleys that hack me off too. Millions of them.

Havingkitties · 01/12/2012 22:38

Yanbu. In my local tescos they line up those cages all down the bread section late in the evening and you can't get to anything. Why open late if you don't want people to be a actually able to shop?

EdgarAllanPond · 01/12/2012 22:38

JS have 24 hr restocking - Tescos weight it on night shift more.

delivery has to come in before it gets put out in any case. for some goods this means morning (baked & fish especially) during open hours.

MrsChristmasVamos · 01/12/2012 22:39

Oh, Gets I'm so sorry. (((HUG)))

It's not only Tesco, my local Sainsbury's was doing it yesterday. Was only 9:30 AM ish too.

I appreciate that they have loads of stuff to get on the shelves, but what pees me off is that while all the sweeties, bisquits and nuts are all very naice, they ain't no good for 3 more weeks worth of dinners are they ?

I suppose I could just get me snowball supplies now, then I wouldn't give a shit. Xmas Grin

LST · 01/12/2012 22:40

YAB massively U..

I used to work in a supermarket and people like you would be the first to whinge when the shelves were empty!
