To disagree with friend who sends her ds to school after being sick 3 times in the morning

My friend is a single mum with 1 child age 8. She works school hours so she and term time only. The child's father is not around and her parents are no longer alive, she has no back up support. If she doesn't work, she doesn't get paid, she doesn't get sick leave and as she works term time only she doesn't get holidays.

This morning she told me her son had been sick 3 times but she was going into work because she needs the money (esp in the run up to Christmas). I was horrified. Not only is she risking other children, but also her poor son should be at home!

Perhaps I am being too judgemental?

I feel really sorry for her, and I'd have taken her DS for the day. Unless you have a newborn, or someone with a weakened immune system, why not? A sickness bug isn't the plague.

I would have probably taken her ds for the day anyway tbh, if things are that hard for her.

I would not send in my child fteywere a bit ropey: dv, flu, hd foot and mouth etc, but cods coughs etc yes

That boy of the op friend would probably have had to go home anyway

YANBU. A parent at DC's nursery recently did the same thing as he was 'tired and needed a break' as his kids was being sick all night. Lazy git, he is a SAHD so had no problem being home with his kid. Apparently 3 of his family members were hospitalised with it too. Selfish feckers.

IceLollyCraving no, that's favours. Although I'm currently babysitting part time to get by I was on about times before when I've had my friends and neighbours kids during illnesses
