to think the window cleaner is rude...

...because when he comes to do my windows he's always got his hands free up and running and has a full on telephone conversation whilst he is cleaning my windows.I was outside working away and i just felt it was really rude of him and i didn't like to hear him gnattering away about SFA in a thick cockney accent talking about boxing and rubbish like that whilst he was cleaning my windows.I think he can eff off next time i don't like him.

The only way this could get better is if he said 'woof to you lady' whilst doing a Dick Van Dyke jig :o

I'm not surprised i didn't like him as he's an absolute con man for starters and a complete(Rogue trader) btw it wasn't my property where this encounter took place but at a friends house even though i said it was at my place. An elderly OAP i look out for and i make sure nobody rips her off. I was checking this man out and he was not in any way interested in talking to me and now i know why at £25 a pop for 20 minutes work makes it £75 per hour(nice work if you can get it) I think alot of you miss the point here and i feel i may well have worded it wrong.I wish i had not worded the cockney bit in but i did because it is that alot of people have cottoned onto in my eyes as mentioned earlier it does not matter about the accent or what somebody is chatting about it is the fact they are closing themselves off to you which is rude .It's a pity because it defers away from the subject matter here.I felt to talk constantly and loudly on a telephone in somebodys property with strangers about is nearly on a par to chatting to somebody on your mobile at a pub table with a group of friends present. It is just generally bad etiquette to talk loudly on a phone in the presence of others or reading a newspaper in a room full of people that you are visiting(not to mention messing about on your mobile) especially when you are on somebody else,s property. I don't expect people not to take calls but i do expect to be treated with a bit of respect.I hope this helps to put the matter straight.I wish you no hard feelings and please don't take me the wrong way. Thanks

Confused missy i was there already he just turned up.

Flamin i don't see why i was being unreasonable while i was trying to have a word with him and he has his hoody up giving me loads of attitude saying sorry mate i'm on the dog and bone.I mean great customer skills i must say.i hope he wasn't trying to drum up more business apparently hers is the only house in the village which is done by him oh what a surprise i wonder why (£25 a pop springs to mind).Don't you just hate a rogue trader that disses you then talks bollox loudly on th mobile on hands free for the remaining 20 minutes .In my eyes it sucks the bloke is rude and nothing but a con man.I know people who will do her bungalow for £10. Are you beginning to get the picture now.I'm looking out for a OAP at the end of the day.

I love how you are changing the AIBU now you have been told YABU.

There wasn't one mention of a vulnerable OAP being overcharged and you merely trying to look out for her by talking to him in the OP.

Drip Drip Drip - any more info you failed to tell us?

I was protecting the old vulnerable persons ID How could we possibly work out who the old vulnerable person was from the information you've given us Confused? I'm guessing you're in the south of England, but that doesn't really narrow your location down an awful lot...

Is this your new point/question?

If so, I don't think your examples are comparable to a window cleaner talking on a telephone. He wasn't there to see you, or rather your vulnerable friend. He was not 'closing himself off to you' he was cracking on with cleaning the windows.

you could offer to clean your vulnerable friend's windows free of charge? that would get rid of window cleaner and give you something to do
