AIBU or is my Grandmother?

My Grandmother was over my house and I made us sandwiches. As I picked one up to eat it she looked at me and said "YOU CAN'T EAT A SANDWICH LIKE THAT PEOPLE WILL THINK YOU'RE STUPID" It's because (something I hadn't noticed before) I hold my sandwich with my thumb on top and my fingers underneath instead of the other way around. Was my Grandmother overreacting or will people think i'm stupid by the way I hold a sandwich?

My elbow sticks right up and out when I try this Is that right?

Whenever I see an American TV show or movie, they are always eating just with their forks.

I think they must cut everything up first with their knife, then put it to one side and use the fork to eat.[grin ]
