Oooft you big meany ;)

I used to love a good door slam as a nipper, and a good foot stomp up the stairs. I'd have been gutted if my parents had taken my one sure fire way of letting the WHOLE FUCKING HOUSE KNOW HOW ANGRY I WAS.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 28/11/2012 19:53

YANBU.

She was warned. That's it.

Brilliant, by the way. Hope I have your balls when my dc's are older.

TotallyEggFlipped · 28/11/2012 19:54

Hmmm. I might consider getting some sort of screen so she has a bit of privacy, but YANBU

Binkyridesagain · 28/11/2012 19:54

We did the same thing, she had to earn it back, took her 6 months, Grin

whatatwat · 28/11/2012 19:55

yanbu.

PickledInAPearTree · 28/11/2012 19:55

Haa haa your nails!

CoolaSchmoola · 28/11/2012 19:55

A SW I worked with Once told someone who did this to put it back as children have a right to privacy particularly once at secondary school. The child was 14.

Personally I wouldn't do it, but I might be tempted to put a soft closer on it, or put one of those foam finger savers right at the top.

Another option is to put a curtain up - that way they have privacy but can't slam anything.

CrazyChristmasLady · 28/11/2012 19:55

YANBU.

Great punishment, you told, she didn't listen, she will now have to deal with the consequences.

I would do exactly the same.

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 28/11/2012 19:57

That happened to me too OP. I learnt from it Grin

There is hope yet. They kept it off long enough so that when it went back on I never slammed it again.

dietstartsmonday · 28/11/2012 19:59

I don't intend to keep it off for long. Just want her to learn a lesson. Atm we have a neighbour who is never home, next year planning to move so wanna get rid of this habbit

binky six months! How did she earn it back

OP posts:
dietstartsmonday · 28/11/2012 20:00

gold how long?

OP posts:
Binkyridesagain · 28/11/2012 20:01

She had to stop slamming the other doors in the house, I didn't have enough room to take all the doors off and store them.

reddaisy · 28/11/2012 20:01

You are mean!! But if she was warned then you had to follow through. Definitely put a curtain up at the doorway or something like someone suggested for privacy.

thebody · 28/11/2012 20:01

Well done! Also a black bag to out any clothes you on the floor into it and hide.. Garage will do.. This will eventually lead to clothes being out in washing basket or hung up..

Hey ho xx

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 28/11/2012 20:04

About ten weeks.

Think every time I was a little shit they'd say "right, thats another week"

MrsMushroom · 28/11/2012 20:04

I am imagining a teenager trying to "slam" a curtain now! Grin

dietstartsmonday · 28/11/2012 20:04

She's ok with her clothes so far but will stockpile that idea!

OP posts:
quoteunquote · 28/11/2012 20:05

My teenagers get this tapped to their doors at eye hight, it does reduce slamming behaviour a fridge magnet version reduces the complaints, about lack of supposedly snack foods.

Give her a curtain and let her earn the door back, hanging doors is a pain.

dietstartsmonday · 28/11/2012 20:05

Ten weeks! Oh will prepare for battle then Grin

TobyLerone · 28/11/2012 20:06

You are NAILS! Kudos, OP.

I confiscated DD(11)'s blackberry for 2 hours earlier for putting the 'phone down on me when I told her she couldn't fanny around with her mates after school until it was dark so that I had to go and get her instead of her walking home as normal.

dietstartsmonday · 28/11/2012 20:06

Love it quote

OP posts:
dietstartsmonday · 28/11/2012 20:07

Will get her a curtain tomorrow

Binkyridesagain · 28/11/2012 20:08

Thanks for that quote, I'm printing it out, laminating it and then nailing it to the new teens door. Thankfully he can't slam his, it's a TARDIS door so can't be slammed.

ImperialStateKnickers · 28/11/2012 20:08

Door slamming doesn't seem to have occurred to dd1 yet but will definitely use the binbag for her floordrobe!

MsElleTow · 28/11/2012 20:11

We've got that poster in the kitchen. DH was very pleased with himself when he bought it, the teens, however, were not!Grin
