Ok is it just me that finds it completely irritating to see to see posters to include [sigh] in their posts.

It reminds me of a petulant child

Na, I know you're not Everlong

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 26/11/2012 13:02

Really takata? You'd get so angry over a ?

How do you express yourself when you are exasperated?

ExitPursuedByABear · 26/11/2012 13:06

I make an art form out of sighing. LOUDLY

takataka · 26/11/2012 13:06

Grin everlong I get MN angry, not so angry probably...it makes me go GRRRR..then I forget about it...

Hmmm....I dont think I express exasperation. I think it is rude to do so. It is expressing that the reason the person you are talking to doesnt agree with you, is because they dont understand you....

Pagwatch · 26/11/2012 13:08

Are we supposed to never be rude on here then?

No one told me [sigh]

Pagwatch · 26/11/2012 13:09

I sigh in RL too. I say 'oh for fucks sake' occasionally. I am like a walking menopausal asbo.

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 26/11/2012 13:09

takataka you are a saint. < puts hand in prayer symbol > Wink

Mrsjay · 26/11/2012 13:11

I * and every other post bet you hate me Grin

takataka · 26/11/2012 13:11

pag Im rude...maybe I mean its too superior/underhand...if you have a point then make it. Dont sigh at me. In fact [sigh] is pretty much end of discussion as far as i am concerned...it blatantly says the person is not listening/ taking your POV seriously

RandallPinkFloyd · 26/11/2012 13:20

Actual lolz at walking menopausal asbo Grin

Yep [sigh] is fecking irritating but sometimes that's intention!

Definitely all depends on context.

psychomum5 · 26/11/2012 13:24

really, this is still going on.

how tedious and boring.

Grin
Pagwatch · 26/11/2012 13:26
Grin Then it works takataka. I would use it more if I thought it would make people fuck off
BumpingFuglies · 26/11/2012 13:58

Definitely need a [fucksake] emoticon Grin

GinAndSlimlinePlease · 26/11/2012 14:06

I quite like a good sigh, says far more than a bunch of words sometime

at myself

to be childish in RL.

But seriously, do we have to be so grown up we can't sigh occasionally?

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 26/11/2012 16:05

I say FFS a lot in RL, but somehow I wouldn't say it on here, and I hate being the recipient of it on here

Sigh is more passive-aggressive, which I find kind of amusing if directed at me. Years of experience of it from my mum I suppose

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 26/11/2012 16:08

Pag

that was not directed at you, BTW. The people you say it to always deserve it

ScrambledSmegs · 26/11/2012 16:16

I'm doing a lot of at the moment. I'm 5 days overdue, can't walk very well and have a 2.8yo to cope with. Just be glad I'm limiting myself to

You wanna make something of that?

Youcanringmybell · 26/11/2012 17:03

I love the detail that so many posters go to here to let you know the tone of their post. I use extra detail so people know if I am joking or not.

Therefore my ruling is that YOU ARE BEING UNREASONABLE
Wink

Pagwatch · 26/11/2012 17:09

It's alright Jamie. I know I would never sigh or FFS at you Grin

I am usually very polite. We just all have our limits

Gentleness · 26/11/2012 18:26

Hmm - I thought [sigh] meant more weary and resigned than anything else. As in: Heartburn kicking in again and toddler spilled drink over sofa. Sigh.

treas · 26/11/2012 19:53

Gentleness - sometimes it sounds like it goes along with the [eyeroll]
