to think that 7.30am is far too early to turn up at a friend's door asking to borrow money?

bear in mind had a bad night with dc, youngest awake poorly in the night so was shattered and was not in the best frame of mind anyway.

at 7.30am we were woken up by banging on the door. tbh the only reason i went to answer it is because i am waiting for something to be delivered. normally i am awake at this time but still would not welcome anyone knocking my door as normally i am showering or getting dcs up, sorting breakfasts etc

anyway it was my friend and her 2 dcs... asking to borrow £5 as they had run out of gas. i had no money on me anyway so said i might be able to lend her some later on...its not the asking to borrow money that bothers me, i don't have a problem with that. its that i would have seen my friend at the morning school drop off anyway (as dcs in same class) so wtf was turning up at my door at this hour all about Confused

then i did see her at school and she said she had sorted it and borrowed some off her mum

aibu or is she?

No problems. I am really talking about me and how I would feel, not judging anyone else about their sleeping habits. Out of interest what time do these amazing sleep till 830 children go to bed (mine go at 830 and 9) Up about 7

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 26/11/2012 15:40

OK - so people should be embarrassed not to be up at 7.30 - but it's OK to go back to bed when the kids go to school? Tell me naughty did I get that right? Hmm

Well to be completely accurate I tend to go for a run, load and unload the dishwasher, have some lunch then put my feet up fully clothed and downstairs around 2pm if I have had a late night.

IAmSoFuckingRock · 26/11/2012 15:47

well last night ds2 (3) took himself to bed about 6.20pm and ds1(7) went up at 7pm on the dot. ds1 woke himself this morning at 10 past 8 and i let ds2 sleep on as he doesn't need to leave til later so he got up at 8.35.

naughtymummy · 26/11/2012 15:48

I am not telling anyone else how they should feel. Except bbloody sorry for anyone who has to knock on doors asking for money at 730 am

naughtymummy · 26/11/2012 15:50

Just wow

IAmSoFuckingRock · 26/11/2012 15:53

if i could sync my body clock with theirs i would be Grin all day long. unfortunately my body clock laughs at me when i try to sleep before 3am.

IAmSoFuckingRock · 26/11/2012 15:54

and i dont nap during the day.

pingu2209 · 26/11/2012 15:55

Is more going on here? Is your friend asking for money often? Is there a part of you that isn't happy about her asking for money and the 7.30 start is more of a red herring?

D0oinMeCleanin · 26/11/2012 16:05

If someone knocked on my door between 9am and 10:30pm I probably wouldn't be in and I was laid on the sofa napping I would be embarrassed.

BigBirdisSaved · 26/11/2012 16:19

Depends on the friend. Some of them could bang on my door at 4am and I would be grumpy but otherwise happy to help them.

blisterpack · 26/11/2012 16:23

My sister is like naughtymummy. She thinks sleeping past about 7 am is shameful and lazy but she naps in the daytime every single day. It's alright if that's just how she feels and what works for her, what I hate is the constant criticism and when we've stayed at hers she even comes in and opens the curtains and switches on the TV in the room at max volume so that we get up Hmm.

NettoSpookerstar · 26/11/2012 16:25

I sleep whenever I can, if that's during the day then so be it.
I'd love to have a normal body clock, but I don't.
DD isn't neglected so I don't see the problem.

IAmSoFuckingRock · 26/11/2012 16:27

Shock at blisterpack's Dsis!

she thinks it's shameful to sleep past 7 but perfectly acceptable to go into another adult's bedroom (and it is yours whilst you are a guest there) and turn the tv on full blast? Confused

D0oinMeCleanin · 26/11/2012 16:27

There is no problem. I too love sleeping, I'm not against napping, not at all, I'm just against other people napping when I don't have time to Wink

naughtymummy · 26/11/2012 16:27

Just the same blister maybe I am your sister ?

wonderingsoul · 26/11/2012 16:29

wouldnt have a problem with it. -

like you said op. had you thought about it you would have invited them in for breakie/ to get ready and could have walked together to school. but you wher eput on the spot, early in the morning after a bad night. dont swet it. long as you wernt rude to her i dont see the problem.

and for what it worth its easy to run out of gas with out knowing. heating cains your meter and only goes on in mine if the kids are still cold after putting a jumper / night gown on.

blisterpack · 26/11/2012 16:34

That's right IAmSo! She is like that.

naughtymummy · 26/11/2012 16:38

No TV in the guest room here so no need for namechange. I enjoy a lie in at the weekend or holidays. I prefer to get up and about during the week (and make DH's lunch and see him off) during the week is all.

blisterpack · 26/11/2012 16:42

I was joking naughtymummy. DSis not an MNer as she's too busy waking up early and being self-righteous.

Sirzy · 26/11/2012 16:45

I would rather friends who were in need of heat/water/food etc knocked on my door at any time and asked for help than suffered until what is deemed as a 'reasonable' time.

stormforce10 · 26/11/2012 16:58

Be glad you don't live next door to me OP. I once knocked banged desperately on my neighbour's door in a complete panic to ask for cash as I had to take DD to hospital needed a taxi and only had £1.50 in the house. I was borderline on whether or not to call an ambulance.

They got up, got dressed and DROVE us there. I was extremely grateful and she was on a drip within 30 minutes of arrival :(

it was 3.30am Shock

in regard to the original OP YABU she must have been desperate to ask at that time

It was 3.30am

stormforce10 · 26/11/2012 16:59

not sure why I so keen you should know it was 3.30am Grin

Sirzy · 26/11/2012 17:04

What a fantastic neighbour you have Storm :)
