good for you! i love being married but wouldnt expect everyone to be - its a choice and my dh and i make a brilliant partnership. wouldnt have been this happy with just anyone though - had to be the right person otherwise i would be you.

apostropheuse · 25/11/2012 23:07

That's nice. Grin

I guess that means you won't be leaving the bastard then.

manicinsomniac · 25/11/2012 23:08

haha, me too!

I've never had a husband or even a long term boyfriend to compare singleness too but I think I prefer it this way.

The only think I regret is that I don't think one parent is ideal for children unless there is alternative to be a role model of the other gender which mine don't have (I have no brothers or father)

But, in general, YANBU!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 25/11/2012 23:10

YANBU. If I ever feel a bit lonely, I just come on mumsnet and five minutes later I am thanking my lucky single stars Grin

Bastards.

McChristmasPants2012 · 25/11/2012 23:11

I have a DH and he is not a bastard :) there are good uns

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 25/11/2012 23:12

Amen sister, I hear ya!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 25/11/2012 23:12

I've heard that rumour..!

Still have my doubts though!

apostropheuse · 25/11/2012 23:13

Well manicinsomniac I've had a long-term husband and a long-term boyfriend. (Not concurrently of course.) I, therefore, do have something to compare my single state to. It's so ....well just so good!

YANDU I will happily be on my own forever if it means I don't have to put up with somebody like my ex! I know people who have got brilliant relationships but it will take someone amazing to stop me being single again!

McChristmasPants2012 · 25/11/2012 23:14

it helps that he works a lot of hours

manicinsomniac · 25/11/2012 23:14

concurrently might have interesting - although I guess that would have made you the bastardess to leave!

(or is bastard a unisex term ...?)

McChristmasPants2012 · 25/11/2012 23:16

but how do single people cope with no sex

manicinsomniac · 25/11/2012 23:17

no sex drive, me - seriously! Grin

apostropheuse · 25/11/2012 23:17

mcchristmaspants Grin That would definitely help.

Yesmanic to say bastardess would be considered sexist on MN.

apostropheuse · 25/11/2012 23:21

Sex you say? I should know what that words means...vvague recollection coming back here. I did have four children so I guess I did it at least four times...

In all seriousness I'm celibate actually. Happily so.

Viviennemary · 25/11/2012 23:22

If you're happy that's great! I moan about DH but he's a saint compared to some I've read about on these threads.

apostropheuse · 25/11/2012 23:24

Well that's good Vivienne. I'm sure there must be some decent men out there - I do have brothers and of course my father was just fantastic. Grin

pants fortunately I think my ex put me off sex for life so it isn't a problem Grin or should that be Sad ?

McChristmasPants2012 · 25/11/2012 23:42

it's only a problem if you make it.

if i was single i would have a friend with benefits :)

princessnumber2 · 25/11/2012 23:42

PelvicFloor would you mind posting frequently for 5 minutes about 5 times a day? Grin

steppemum · 25/11/2012 23:43

I love my dh
marriage works well for me (not saying it is for everyone etc ect)

I do find the relationships boards on here really sad though. I know there are plenty of good men out there who behave like adults and can sustain a good relationship, but you wouldn't think so reading the boards on relationships on here Sad

steppemum · 25/11/2012 23:44

don't want to be too serious

But, if you have only encountered bastards. Do you have any ds, and are you deliberately bringing them up to behave differently?
