Just parked up and saw a family, mum, dad, two kids and a baby go into a car.

Baby was in a sling with mum. The mum jumped.in the back seat, no seatbelt on, baby still in sling and they drove off....no intention of putting the baby in a car seat!

I'm and at their blatant disrepect for their own lives and that of their baby.

Looked like a very well to do family!

Perhaps the op was suggesting they could surely afford a car seat.

No there wasn't when I was a child either.... nor when I was a nurse working in a/e

but know what... once you have patched together the people that actually made it to us (and heard from the ambulance sevice about the ones that did not) and knew that much of that could have been prevented had a seatbelt been worn ( they were by then optional). ....... few of us would get in a car without belting up.

I did not have to retrieve the lower legs of a man who went through the windscreen of his sports car leaving them behind ..... just help patch him up ! If he had been wearing his seatbelt he might still have them !

I helped sew up so many faces scarred for life....some losing eyesight and some also braindamaged for life having hit the windscreen. So many people killed ( or dying in a/e) when their chests had hit the steering wheel.



How on earth anyone could consider NOT putting on a seatbelt ...... I wish I could be a time traveller and take them back to where and when I worked in a/e.... . and imagine their dear ones in that picture !!!!!

The number of heart and other transplants went down when the seat belt law was introduced. Just not enough donors.
