It's definitely one of those old man names that seems to have missed the revival.

Personally I wouldn't do it, even though it was my grandfather's name. Too lispy, and hard to think of a nice shortening that isn't just Bert or Bertie anyway.

He sounds like he would have long blond curls, wear a sailor suit and be beaten up alot. I would love him though, and would invite him in for a glass of milk and a snickerdoodle.

Thanks for the feedback it's what I expected glad a couple of people like it, he would be Bertie for short I think it's very cute.

I don't like Cuthbert, love Bertie though. Partly because a friends ds is Bertie and the moar beautiful child ever born. Positively angelic!

Whilst he might be Bertie for short there are lots of occasions when he will be using his full name so if you really like Bertie more (which you must do if this is what you are going to call him) then why not Albert or Bertrand. All will be well until his first friend calls him Cuffy Why not wait to see what he looks like when he is born. we had a list of 10 boys names for our ds and when we saw him chose something completely different.
